United States President Donald Trump announced on Monday that fentanyl will be classified as "a weapon of mass destruction." The statement was followed by the signing of the executive order that made it official.
During the presentation of the Mexican Border Defense Medal, the president also went into detail about the operation at the border, stating that the entry of drugs into the United States "poses a direct military threat" to national security.
Trump reiterated that drug flows by sea are down 94%, but that authorities still need to "figure out how the other 6% is managing to enter." Later in the press conference, Trump declared that the administration is exploring the legalization of marijuana.
