Venezuelan Foreign Minister Yvan Gil Pinto shared a statement on Wednesday that Venezuela's state oil company, Petroleos de Venezuela, S.A. (PDVSA), announced that "crude oil and refined product export operations are proceeding normally."
PDVSA stated that tankers linked to its operations continue sailing with "full security, technical support and operational guarantees," adding that the company is exercising its "rights to free navigation and free trade" under international law. It also reiterated its "commitment" to defending what it called Venezuela's "energy sovereignty," despite continued "acts of international piracy aimed at stealing oil, all designed to disrupt its operations and violate the nation's economic rights."
The statement came after United States President Donald Trump ordered a "total and complete blockade" of all sanctioned oil tankers entering and leaving Venezuela.
