Greenland's capital hit by large power outage

 Greenland's capital Nuuk was left without power late on Saturday, according to the local energy company Nukissiorfiit. The outage occurred due to an "accident," the provider said, adding it was working to restore power via an emergency generator.

According to eyewitnesses, the blackout took place simultaneously across the city.

Greenland came into the global spotlight earlier this year after United States President Donald Trump sought to acquire the Arctic island from Denmark. Last week, Greenland's authorities issued guidelines instructing the local population to prepare for a possible invasion.
