Tesla Inc., x.AI Corp., and SpaceX Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Elon Musk announced on Thursday that his space engineering company will launch large-scale solar-power infrastructure in the United States, including solar-powered artificial intelligence (AI)-backed satellites.
Speaking at the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, the world's richest man declared that Tesla and SpaceX are looking to produce individually about 100 gigawatts of solar power a year in the United States. He said that the project could be materialized "in three years of something."
Furthermore, Musk pointed out China's supremacy in producing solar power and noted the difficulty of importing it as the "tariff barrier" is "extremely high." He urged other companies to turn to producing solar energy as well.
