NYU-Langone hospital apologizes for abusing NYPD patients after mistaking them for ICE agents

 by Monica Showalter

New York Police officers injured in the line of duty were abused and refused treatment by New York University Lagone-Cobble Hill staff, after they were mistaken for ICE officers in Brooklyn, New York. The hospital issued an apology, but ....

According to the Washington Examiner:

New York City Police Department Commissioner Jessica Tisch is demanding that a Brooklyn hospital retrain all of its staff after emergency room personnel mistreated NYPD officers whom they mistook for Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers. The hospital said it “regret[s]” the conduct.

Several NYPD detectives were “met with rudeness, disrespect, and a lack of basic professional courtesy” at the Home Depot Emergency Department at New York University Langone Health—Cobble Hill last week, according to the NYC Detectives’ Endowment Association. The staff initially mistook the officers for federal immigration officers and suggested they go somewhere else for treatment, according to multiple reports.

No word yet if they will get it. Meanwhile, nobody got fired. Nobody got even sanctioned, let alone re-educated as the police union calls for. Nobody got anything.

We thought professionalism required all patients to be treated with respect and with due response in the name of first-world medical care. This is the sort of thing that goes on in some place like Cuba or China, where social credit scores are determinational.

Sure the hospital apologized -- when the press spotlight was placed on them, and very likely, they considered that they might actually need cops next time a spray-shooting happens at the hospital. Having police enmity is kind of an open invitation to the monsters out there who follow these things closely. Maybe it dawned on them.

But it was a cheap apology given the lack of consequences for any of the wokesters at the publicly funded hospital who are clearly getting away with it, rewriting the rules of professionalism to include a social credit score such as these commissars determine it.

Not only was the initial professionalism problem ignored, the bigger issue is still unaddressed: What if the injured patients really were ICE officers? What if one of them were dying?

Would it still be O.K. for these Che Guevara-style doctors to refuse to treat them? They didn't say, not even in their public statement.

Are they fine with behaving the same way so long as the patient works for ICE? ICE needs an even bigger apology from this hospital.

I hope the feds get involved here and if necessary, President Trump pulls funds. I hope patients pull out, too. How is it that cops can get sanctioned and fired for any derogatory post about a perpetrator or any politically incorrect social media statement, but hospital personnel, in whose hands lives are placed, get away saying and doing whatever they want?

It's an important issue because standards are falling sharply in the medical profession with the introduction of DEI which prioritizes perceived victimhood status above merit in hiring.

Apparently, they've already had problems with Gaza war statements from their staff, according to Google AI:

Israel-Hamas War-Related Firings: NYU Langone suspended and fired doctors for social media posts about the conflict, sparking controversy and lawsuits alleging discrimination.
    • Perceived Inconsistency: Doctors noted inconsistencies in how the hospital handled posts, with some pro-Israel voices facing consequences while others (like a young resident) were reinstated after public outcry.

They fired staff for being pro-Israel?

I would have thought they would have problems with staff being pro-Hamas, as has been seen at other hospitals, including a few staffers such as this one in Australia and this one in the Netherlands, and this one and this one in the U.K. who vowed to not treat Jewish patients.

There also was this charmer in the U.S., one Lara Kollab, who vowed to give Jewish patients the wrong medicine. She was fired in 2019 and her Ohio license revoked in 2020. That was back when there were residual medical standards. Apparently, there aren't any now in wokester New York City. home of Islamo-Marxist Mayor Zohran Mamdani.

It's just disgusting, and more apologies from that place -- and consequences -- can't come soon enough. I hope the feds get involved. It's high time the medical field embraced professional standards after this long slide downward.
