Rubio: Rodriguez is not indicted, unlike Maduro

 United States Secretary of State Marco Rubio noted on Wednesday, while addressing concerns about acting Venezuelan President Delcy Rodriguez's involvement in the deposed regime in that country, that she is not indicted, unlike former head of state Nicolas Maduro and his wife.

Testifying before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Rubio was asked about the fact that the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) identified Rodriguez as a "significant actor in drug trafficking." He pointed out that the re-establishment of relations between the US and Venezuela are in its "transition and stabilization phase" and that, for that, the administration needs to stay in contact with people who "are elements of the government," although it "was not a normal system."

Rubio reiterated that the US Treasury will oversee the account that Venezuela will use to deposit its earnings from oil sales, and that it will have to make a budgetary request to use those funds.
