United States President Donald Trump announced on Monday he was raising tariffs on South Korean goods by 10%, citing Seoul's failure to live up to the deal it reached with Washington in July.
"[South Korean] President Lee [Jae-myung] and I reached a Great Deal for both Countries on July 30, 2025, and we reaffirmed these terms while I was in Korea on October 29, 2025. Why hasn't the Korean Legislature approved it?," Trump asked on Truth Social.
Tariffs on the Asian nation's autos, pharmaceuticals, lumber and all other goods that fall under Trump's "reciprocal" tariffs will be increased from 15% to 25% due to the ratification delay, the post said. Trump didn't specify when the tariff increase would take effect.
