United States Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent allowed for the possibility of Washington further easing sanctions on Russian oil. The news comes after the US granted India a temporary waiver, allowing it to purchase Russian oil for the next 30 days.
In an interview with Fox Business, Bessent promised new measures to ensure oil supplies to the market amid disruptions due to the closure of the Strait of Hormuz and war with Iran. "We will maintain a rhythm of announcements on measures aimed at easing the market situation during this conflict," he declared.
Furthermore, he also promised the US would work to ensure the safe passage of vessels through the Ormuz Strait, though he shared no further details.
