'Medvedev: US bases are threat to Gulf countries'

 Russian Security Council Deputy Chairman Dmitry Medvedev said on Friday that the United States bases in the Gulf countries are "protection," but a "threat" for those states.

"The Gulf Arab countries let American bases onto their territory. Naively, they expected protection from them. Like hell! The US just uses them, while protecting only one country," Medvedev said in a post on X.

The Russian diplomat's comments follow reports of Washington's Gulf allies expressing their "frustration" with the Trump administration about not being notified early enough of the plans to launch the initial strikes on Iran last weekend and not being properly defended from Tehran's retaliatory strikes.
