Bessent: US to cut off federal benefits for 'illegal aliens'

 United States Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent announced in a social media post on Friday that, at President Donald Trump's directive, the administration is working to cut off "federal benefits to illegal aliens," adding that they would be preserved for US citizens.

Previously, the Treasury mentioned that "it will issue proposed regulations clarifying that the refunded portions of certain individual income tax benefits are no longer available to illegal and other non-qualified aliens, covering the Earned Income Tax Credit, the Additional Child Tax Credit, the American Opportunity Tax Credit, and the Saver's Match Credit."

The actions come after the shooting incident that took place near the White House, where two members of the National Guard were targeted.
