Entrepreneur and billionaire Elon Musk stated on Friday that the standard policy of SpaceX is to make Starlink free of charge in any area struck by a natural disaster. "It would not be right to profit from misfortune," he wrote in a post on X.
Musk's comments come after Starlink announced that, in light of severe flooding in Indonesia, "free service to new and existing customers" will be provided through the end of December. Starlink further revealed that it is working with the Indonesian government "to rapidly deploy terminals and restore connectivity to the hardest-hit areas on Sumatra."
