'BlackRock files for Bitcoin premium income ETF'

BlackRock Inc. has filed an application with the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) for a new iShares Bitcoin Premium Income exchange-traded fund (ETF), the document submitted on January 23 and made public on Monday showed.

If approved, such an ETF fund would use a so-called covered call strategy, offering call options on the $70B+ iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT) to gross income. It would also allow investors to trade with Bitcoin in a less risky environment.

Equity Premium Income ETFs incorporate stocks with options strategies in an effort to produce additional income amid more volatile market conditions. BlackRock's would trade through iShares, the company's collection of ETFs and index mutual funds.
