The US received intelligence indicating that China might be getting ready to provide Iran with financial support, spare parts, and missile components, CNN reported on Friday, citing three people familiar with the matter.
"China is more cautious in its support. It wants the war to end because it endangers their energy supply," the outlet quoted one of the sources as saying.
The Asian giant, which relies heavily on Iranian oil, has allegedly been putting pressure on Tehran to permit ships to travel through the Strait of Hormuz safely. Earlier in the week, US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth told reporters that China and Russia were "not really a factor" in his country's conflict with Iran.
