Pezeshkian briefs Putin on Iran conflict

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian informed Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday about the current situation around the military conflict in Iran.

After a telephone call between the two leaders, the Kremlin said in a statement that Putin reaffirmed Moscow's "principled position on the need for an immediate cessation of hostilities renunciation of the use of force to resolve the problems around Iran and in the entire Middle East region, and a speedy return to the path of political and diplomatic settlement."

The Russian president also expressed condolences regarding the death of Iran's late Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. In return, Pezeshkian expressed gratitude to Russia for its solidarity with Iranians, after which both leaders agreed that the countries would maintain contact "through various channels."
