Harris vows amnesty to migrants who illegally cross border: ‘Earned pathway to citizenship’

Vice President Kamala Harris vows on her long-awaited new campaign website to establish an “earned pathway to citizenship” for migrants who cross the border illegally.

“She knows that our immigration system is broken and needs comprehensive reform that includes strong border security and an earned pathway to citizenship,” says the website — which only went online Sunday, a month and a half into her campaign, and has already been criticized as too vague.

Former President Donald Trump, who Harris is going up against for the White House, has claimed he will enact a large deportation initiative to expel illegal migrants from the US.

Harris’ website policies on the border, which voters rank as a high-priority issue, don’t add anything beyond harking back to a related bipartisan Senate bill.

“As President, she will bring back the bipartisan border security bill and sign it into law,” her website states without offering any other proposals on the crisis.

“The most destructive part of the Kamala Harris border plan is where she says that she wants to give her 8.5+ million illegal aliens an ‘earned pathway to citizenship,’ which means rewarding illegal aliens with amnesty and the right to vote in our next election,” Vance wrote on X.

“Promising amnesty and citizenship will create a gigantic magnet for illegal immigration that will entice people around the world to race across our borders.”

The vice president has called for the “pathway to citizenship” other times — as she presided over the largest migrant crossing total in American history while the White House’s “border czar.”

She called for the pathway in her remarks during the Democratic National Convention and said similar remarks in June.

“We do need Congress to act and to do what we know is necessary to fully put the resources into the border and creating a meaningful pathway to citizenship,” she said at the start of the summer.

Democrats, including Harris, have blamed Republicans for killing the Senate border bill in response to critics.

The vice president has portrayed herself as tough on the border despite her record of not stopping illegal migrant border crossings.

Her campaign website reads, “Vice President Harris and Governor Walz believe in tough, smart solutions to secure the border, keep communities safe, and reform our broken immigration system.

“As Attorney General of California, Vice President Harris went after international drug gangs, human traffickers and cartels that smuggled guns, drugs, and human beings across the U.S.-Mexico border. As Vice President, she supported the bipartisan border security bill, the strongest reform in decades.”

Harris’ campaign did not respond to an inquiry from The Post on Monday.
