Lee Greenwood on being suggested to replace Bad Bunny for Super Bowl halftime show

Lee Greenwood is throwing his cowboy hat in the ring.

The country singer, 82, spoke out about House Speaker Mike Johnson’s suggestion that Greenwood should replace Bad Bunny for the 2026 Super Bowl halftime show.

“I agree with Speaker Johnson. I would make a great performer for any Super Bowl show,” Greenwood said in a statement to The Post.

“I perform for various NFL teams every year, especially during their Salute to Service games,” the Grammy winner continued. “As a matter of fact, I will be doing halftime for the Dallas Cowboys during Monday Night Football on Nov. 3. Football is one of America’s most watched sports, and I am always thrilled to perform the anthem or ‘God Bless the USA’ during the games.”

Greenwood added: “Maybe the NFL will have me perform this year at the Super Bowl prior to the game to have a stadium full of football fans singing ‘God Bless the USA’ to kick-off the game!”

Greenwood recently performed at conservative activist Charlie Kirk’s memorial service in September. He also sang his patriotic anthem at Donald Trump’s presidential inauguration in January.

The following month, Trump, 79, appointed Greenwood to the board of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, DC.

On Tuesday, Johnson, 53, told the press he’d rather see Greenwood headline the Super Bowl halftime show next year instead of Bad Bunny, 31.

“I didn’t even know who Bad Bunny was. But it sounds like a terrible decision, in my view, from what I’m hearing,” the Louisiana Republican said to the press outside House chambers.

“It sounds like he’s not someone who appeals to a broader audience,” Johnson added of the Puerto Rican superstar. “And there are so many eyes on the Super Bowl — for a lot of young and impressionable children.”

When asked to give his personal pick for the performer, Johnson said, “In my view, you would have Lee Greenwood or role models doing that. Not somebody like this.”

Trump also criticized the NFL’s decision to have Bad Bunny perform at the Super Bowl.

“I never heard of him,” the president said on Newsmax’s “Greg Kelly Reports” earlier this week. “I don’t know who he is, I don’t know why they’re doing it, it’s crazy, and then they blame it on some promoter that they hired to pick up entertainment, I think it’s absolutely ridiculous.”

Trump also stated about Bad Bunny, “This guy does not seem like a unifying entertainer and a lot of folks don’t even know who he is.”

Bad Bunny, whose real name is Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, and is one of the most-streamed artists in the world, said the decision to perform on the NFL’s biggest stage is a moment that “goes beyond myself.”

“It’s for those who came before me and ran countless yards so I could come in and score a touchdown… this is for my people, my culture, and our history,” he said in a statement.

The “Dakiti” singer fired back at his Super Bowl critics when he hosted the Season 51 premiere of “Saturday Night Live” last weekend by teasing non-Spanish speakers during his monologue.

“If you didn’t understand what I just said. You have four months to learn,” he mockingly suggested.

Bad Bunny previously sparked backlash for refusing to bring his tour to the US, fearing federal agents would be outside his concerts.

“But there was the issue of — like, f–king ICE could be outside [my concert]. And it’s something that we were talking about and very concerned about,” he told i-D magazine last month.

Trump administration officials clarified ICE agents would be at the Feb. 8, 2026 game, whether Bad Bunny liked it or not.

Water bottles tagged as big microplastic exposure source

Here’s some bitter news to sip on.

Microplastics are impossible to avoid, lurking in everything from the food you eat and the water you drink to the clothes you wear and the cosmetics you apply.

Now, a new study suggests that one everyday habit could flood your body with tens of thousands more of these tiny plastic particles each year — and your health might be paying the price.

Microplastics are plastic particles less than 5 millimeters long that break off from larger plastic items.Microgen – stock.adobe.com

Researchers at Concordia University in Canada analyzed more than 140 scientific articles and found that the average person ingests between 39,000 and 52,000 microplastic particles annually.

But if you regularly drink from single-use plastic water bottles, you could be swallowing an extra 90,000 of these pesky polymers every year compared to those who stick to tap water.

Microplastic exposure happens when particles break off from the bottle’s inner surface and leach into the water, especially when the bottle is squeezed or heated.

“Drinking water from plastic bottles is fine in an emergency but it is not something that should be used in daily life,” Sarah Sajedi, an environmental management expert and lead author of the study, said in a statement.

That might be tough news to swallow. In 2024, bottled water remained America’s top packaged drink for the ninth consecutive year, beating out carbonated sodas and fruit beverages, according to industry data.

A staggering 16.2 billion gallons were consumed, a 2% jump from 2023. That’s enough to fill more than 24,000 Olympic-sized swimming pools.

“Education is the most important action we can take,” Sajedi said. “People need to understand that the issue is not acute toxicity — it is chronic toxicity.”

Scientists are still working to understand exactly how microplastics affect human health, but one thing is clear: they don’t just pass through the body.

Once ingested, these shards — often smaller than a grain of rice — can enter the bloodstream and accumulate in vital organs and tissues, including the heart, lungs, liverkidneystesticles and placenta.

Studies have even found that microplastics are small enough to cross the blood-brain barrier, a threshold experts say is “very difficult” to breach.

Sarah Sajedi and Chunjiang An served as lead authors of the study from Concordia University.Concordia University

Inside the body, research suggests these particles may trigger chronic inflammation, damage cells, disrupt hormones and interfere with the delicate balance of bacteria in the gut.

While the long-term effects aren’t fully understood, early studies on animals and human cells have linked microplastic exposure to cancerinfertilityheart diseaselung conditions and other serious health risks.

Sajedi and her team are now calling for standardized testing to better measure microplastic levels in products like single-use water bottles and for stronger policies to limit plastic contamination in bottled water.

In January, the International Bottled Water Association addressed growing concerns, noting that bottled water is just one of thousands of products sold in plastic packaging.

“The bottled water industry is committed to providing consumers with the safest and highest quality healthy hydration products,” the group said in a statement. “The industry supports conducting additional research on this important issue.”

Dems let Antifa take over their cities — Trump is right to send in federal troops to maintain order

 by Miranda Devine

It’s been five years since the nation was terrorized by Antifa militants rioting, attacking cops, throwing Molotov cocktails, setting streets ablaze, breaking shop windows, vandalizing cars, targeting journalists and hurting innocent people.

They used the death of George Floyd at the hands of Minneapolis police as an excuse for strategic mayhem designed to destabilize Donald Trump’s first administration and strike fear in the hearts of law-abiding Americans, some of whom wrongly thought that if they voted out Trump, the pain would stop.

In one sense, they were right.

Store owners on Madison Avenue boarded up their windows before the 2020 election in preparation for another bout of violence if Trump won.

But it was all sweetness and light when Joe Biden was installed in the White House.

The price of peace is giving the left what it wants — the destruction of this country.

Biden was happy to oblige, most notably by deliberately enabling an invasion of 10 million to 20 million illegal aliens, a disproportionate number of whom seem to be criminals, gang-bangers and child molesters.

Now that Trump is again in charge, the calm is over.

Antifa is back with a vengeance.

This time their target is Immigration and Customs Enforcement and all the federal agents trying to undo Biden’s border crimes by searching out and deporting criminal illegal aliens.

It’s a dangerous job, but it has to be done if law and order in this country means anything.

Democrats have placed themselves squarely on the wrong side of public opinion and no amount of lies and gaslighting will work this time.

Trump Mark 2 has designated Antifa a terrorist organization and has sicced his entire administration on destroying it.

That means not just arresting the black bloc militants and their zombie comrades, but attacking the source of their funding.

‘Paid anarchists’

“These are agitators, anarchists, and they’re paid,” he said Wednesday at a White House roundtable with Attorney General Pam Bondi, FBI Director Kash Patel, Homeland Security boss Kristi Noem and a group of independent journalists who have been attacked while trying to report on the violence.

“They are paid anarchists.”

The president then foreshadowed a crackdown on the people who fund Antifa — including, he revealed shockingly, potentially some of the unnamed wealthy people with whom he has had dinner.

“We are going after Antifa criminals and all who fund and support their campaigns. [They] are in serious trouble, and we have a lot of records already, a lot of surprises, a lot of bad surprises, people that you would never think … probably some of the people I know, some of the people I dine with.”

Noem paid tribute to Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, who has been quietly investigating Antifa’s shadowy funding networks, alongside the FBI, Homeland Security and the intelligence community.

Bessent is “getting to the bottom of these funding mechanisms and individuals who are perpetuating this violence on our American cities,” said Noem.

Bessent’s office on Wednesday refused to comment on what he has discovered, but Trump promised that all would be revealed in due course.

It will be a relief to find out who has been funding these violent groups that appear for all the world to be the Dem street militia.

How else to explain years of Democrats gaslighting us and Democratic governors and mayors covering for Antifa.

Revolting liar Pritzker

Portland and Chicago are emerging as epicenters of anti-Trump resistance, with Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker their unlikely general.

No more revolting a liar will you ever find.

He and Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson are endangering the lives of ICE and Border Patrol personnel by calling them Nazis and withholding police backup even as gang members place bounties on the heads of federal agents.

The two have created a permission structure for Antifa — and the drug addicts, homeless crazies and disaffected loners coerced to join them — to do their worst while ordering the cops they control to stand down.

Standing down is what post-George Floyd police in blue cities specialize in.

In blue cities like Chicago and Portland, cops have effectively been neutered.

Good cops have been replaced with DEI hires, lazy time-servers and social justice types.

A case in point is what happened in Portland last week to Nick Sortor, one of the citizen journalists invited to Trump’s Antifa roundtable.

Portland police ignored the Antifa type who gave post-millennial journalist Katie Daviscourt a black eye by hitting her with a flagpole.

But they wasted no time arresting Sortor, throwing him in jail and charging him with disorderly conduct after an Antifa mob surrounded him and pushed him to the ground.

The confrontation was caught on video showing Sortor being accosted by a short, fat white guy in a black robe and mask, barking in his face: “Get the f–k out of here, white boy, get out of here or I’ll f–k your ass up.”

Others shrieked: “Get the f–k out or I’ll slam your head on the pavement.”

Sortor finally pushed the guy away.

Then he was shoved hard by someone and fell backward into a ditch, breaking his camera.

At least the local DA decided to drop the charges against Sortor, who has 1.2 million followers on X, conceding that Sortor acted in self-defense.

But his ordeal revealed that Portland police are in bed with the anarchists.

In footage Sortor posted on social media last weekend, he shows Portland police allowing militants to shut down streets and direct traffic around the ICE facility, while a local restaurant manager begs cops to let his customers pass.

Who’s in charge here?

“I don’t know why they’re allowed to control traffic,” says the man identified by Sortor as the restaurateur.

“Well, it’s their event,” replies a uniformed Portland police “liaison” officer.

“But you guys are the police,” says the manager.

“Correct, but we have a different task to do, and we can only do so much with four people,” says the cop.

“But there are 10 other cops that just went by [on bikes].”

“Different group,” replies the cop before requesting permission of the self-anointed traffic-cop militant for the Spaghetti Factory’s customers to get past.

Under orders from their Democratic masters, these cops have crossed over to the dark side.

Trump has laid out exactly whom they are protecting: a “terrorist network just as sophisticated as MS-13, as TdA, as ISIS, as Hezbollah, as Hamas,” as Noem put it.

“They are just as dangerous, they have an agenda to destroy us just like the other terrorists we’ve dealt with for many, many years, and today is the day that we have a president that won’t tolerate it and will stand up and fight for the American people.”

The battle lines have been drawn.

Time to choose which side you’re on.
