Vertex Pharmaceuticals (VRTX) on Wednesday reported adjusted income of 94 cents per share on sales of $752.2 million for its second quarter, compared with adjusted earnings of 39 cents per share and $544.14 million in revenue in the year-earlier period.
Analysts polled by Zacks Investment Research had called for adjusted profit of 72 cents a share on $673 million in sales.
For the year, Vertex projected $2.9 billion to $3 billion in sales of cystic fibrosis treatments. Analysts called for adjusted income of $3.15 per share and $2.77 billion in total revenue.
In after-hours trading on the stock market today, Vertex stock was flat. Shares closed up 1.1%, at 176.81.
