Everest Organics Ltd of India said on Tuesday that it has begun production of a generic version of Merck & Co’s experimental antiviral drug molnupiravir (API) for the treatment of mild to moderate COVID-19.
After the news came in, Everest Organics’ share jumped 11.6% and finally rose 9.9% to Rs 330 due to the downturn in the Mumbai market.
An Indian bulk drug manufacturer has joined Divi’s Laboratories Ltd as an API manufacturer of Merck’s experimental oral drugs.
Merck has independently signed voluntary license agreements with at least eight generic drug manufacturers in India with the aim of making Molnupiravir a drug manufacturing hub.
