10 Most Wanted Illegal Immigrants’ list released by Texas includes suspected murderers, rapists, child abusers

Texas has compiled a top 10 Most Wanted list of criminal illegal immigrants, which includes men wanted for sexual assault, murder, and making terroristic threats.

Governor Greg Abbott announced the list, created in partnership with the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) on Wednesday.

According to a press release, it presents “a new initiative to locate and arrest repeat offenders who have entered the country illegally and are wanted for dangerous crimes committed in Texas.”

Many of the 10 men have more than one offense on their rap sheet and eight of them are accused of at least one sex crime —  six of them against children.

Included on the Most Wanted are Omar David Zavala, who entered the US illegally from El Salvador, according to authorities. He is charged with sexual assault and making terroristic threats and was last spotted in Spring, TX. The notice adds he is to be considered armed and dangerous.

Also on the list is 26-year-old Mexican Castro Zubiate, who is charged with human trafficking in El Paso county.

After posting bond, Zubiate allegedly jumped bail and has not been seen since. His official charges —  two counts of Smuggling of Persons for Pecuniary Benefit —  are felonies punishable by up to 20 years in prison.

The full list of most wanted fugitives —  including mugshots, last known addresses, and descriptions of their crimes, can be accessed on the Texas Department of Safety’s website.

“Criminals from around the world who enter the United States illegally and commit crimes in Texas are a threat to public safety,” DPS Director Steve McCraw said in the press release.

“Individuals on Texas’ 10 Most Wanted Criminal Illegal Immigrants List are likely to commit other crimes, and DPS is enlisting the public’s help in apprehending these offenders before they commit additional crimes.”

Texans are urged to keep their eyes open for these men, but should not attempt to apprehend them themselves. Instead, they are urged to report them to authorities.

To be eligible for cash rewards, tipsters must provide information to authorities using one of the following three methods:

Call the Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-252-TIPS (8477).

  • Submit a web tip through the DPS website by selecting the fugitive you have information about, then clicking on the link under their picture.
  • Submit a Facebook tip by clicking the “SUBMIT A TIP” link (under the “About” section)

Authorities emphasize that all tips are anonymous, regardless of how they are submitted. Tipsters will be provided a tip number to use instead of their names. People who collect rewards are not part of a public database.
