The federal government has stopped the placement of unaccompanied migrant children in shelters operated by the Southwest Key Programs and moved all children there to other shelters, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services said Wednesday.
The move comes after the Department of Justice alleged in a July 2024 lawsuit that employees of the charity - which has operated 27 shelters in Texas, Arizona, and California - had subjected children in its care to unlawful sexual harassment and abuse, the department said in a statement.
