United States President Donald Trump hinted on Friday that he may impose tariffs on countries that "don't go along" with his plan for the US to take control of Greenland.
"I may do that for Greenland, too," Trump said after discussing his tariff policies. "I may put a tariff on countries if they don't go along with Greenland, because we need Greenland for national security," he added during his remarks at The Great, Historic Investment in Rural Health Roundtable.
In response to Trump's repeated threats to acquire the Arctic island, a bipartisan US Congress delegation started a visit to Copenhagen on Friday to express support for Denmark and Greenland. The 11 congressmen and women were to hold talks with Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen and her Greenlandic counterpart Jens-Frederik Nielsen.
