The United States military carried out what it said were "self-defense" strikes in southern Iran on Monday, Fox News reported, citing US Central Command (CENTCOM).
"Targets included missile launch sites and Iranian boats attempting to emplace mines," CENTCOM spokesperson Captain Tim Hawkins said, adding that the strikes were conducted to protect US troops from "threats posed by Iranian forces."
CENTCOM "continues to defend our forces while using restraint during the ongoing ceasefire," Hawkins noted.
