'Illegals not showing up to work for fear of ICE raids'

A crackdown on undocumented workers by the Trump administration has sent shockwaves through the nation’s farms, factories and food supply chains — prompting warnings of worker shortages and higher prices.

Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller sounded the alarm this week as immigration raids continue to disrupt labor across the state’s farming industry — particularly in dairy operations.

Miller told Bloomberg that the situation has become more dire for livestock producers amid growing absenteeism among workers fearful of being detained.

“Those cows, they have to be milked every eight hours, so if milkhands are gone, what are you going to do? It’s sheer panic,” he said.

Dairy farms across Texas are struggling to maintain routine operations as both undocumented and legal workers stay home to avoid potential encounters with immigration authorities, according to Bloomberg News.

The increased presence of ICE agents, combined with confusion over federal enforcement policy, has led to widespread uncertainty.

Though Trump briefly suggested farms might be spared, the Department of Homeland Security reaffirmed Thursday that agents are to target anyone in the country without legal status.

“President Trump was elected on his promise to enforce federal immigration law and he is doing just that,” Abigail Jackson, a White House spokesperson, told The Post.

“The Trump Administration is primarily focused on deporting criminal illegal aliens, especially prioritizing those in dangerous Sanctuary Cities.”

Jackson added that “any suggestion that enforcing immigration law will hurt the workforce misses the forest for the trees – over one in ten young adults in America are neither employed, in higher education, nor pursuing some sort of vocational training.”

“There is no shortage of American minds and hands to grow our labor force.”

The Department of Agriculture estimates that more than 40% of US farmworkers are undocumented.

Shay Myers, who runs one of America’s largest onion farms — Owyhee Produce in Idaho — warned: “We will not feed our people in this country without these workers, plain and simple.”

He told Bloomberg News that he’s had to abandon planting some crops due to labor shortages, noting it costs over $21,000 per legal H-2A visa worker for just four months of harvest work.

Texas peach grower Katelyn Eames described the reality on her farm.

“If it weren’t for them, there would be no peaches,” she told Bloomberg News, referring to foreign visa workers.

“If you think a US citizen wanted to pick 500 acres of my dad’s peaches in the last 60 years, you would be sadly mistaken.”

In California alone, mass deportations could slash $275 billion from the state’s economy and cut $23 billion in annual tax revenue, according to a new report by the Bay Area Council Economic Institute and UC Merced.

While some sectors have turned to technology or legal visa programs like H-2A to fill gaps, those options remain expensive and time-consuming.

Farmers say they’re caught between federal crackdowns and the practical realities of food production.

Even industries previously seen as “off limits” are feeling the pressure.

After a high-profile June 6 ICE raid, Los Angeles’ Fashion District saw a 40% drop in casual visits and nearly a quarter fewer employees showing up, according to local business leaders.

Jackson disputed the implication that immigration raids were to blame for this, telling The Post: “Violent rioters in Los Angeles, enabled by failed Democrat leaders Gavin Newsom and Karen Bass, have vandalized small businesses, set cars on fire, and created a lawless, chaotic environment.”

“Newsom’s refusal to quell this behavior is crushing businesses who rely on a safe environment to draw in customers,” according to Jackson, who added: “It’s the Democrat riots – not enforcement of federal immigration law – that is hurting small businesses.”

The Post has sought comment from Newsom and Bass.

President Donald Trump to Iran: Bombs away! Fordow is gone!

Donald Trump promised to be an America First president who would Make America Great Again. One of the things that makes America great, of course, is to ensure that it doesn’t have hanging over it the Sword of Damocles in the form of nuclear weapons in the hands of rogue, genocidal nations such as Iran. For years and years, Trump promised that he would never let Iran gain nuclear weapons. And today, after Israel softened the ground and cleared the skies, Trump dropped a full complement of bombs on all of Iran’s main nuclear sites, including Fordow.

Trump let the world know what happened via a message on Truth Social, which Pete Hegseth retweeted (thankfully, given that I can’t even load Truth Social right now):

In case you can’t read it, Trump’s message states as follows:

We have completed our very successful attack on the three Nuclear sites in Iran, including Fordow, Natanz, and Esfahan. All planes are now outside of Iran air space. A full payload of BOMBS was dropped on the primary site, Fordow. All planes are safely on their way home. Congratulations to our great American Warriors. There is not another military in the World that could have done this. NOW IS THE TIME FOR PEACE! Thank you for your attention to this matter.

The White House also put out a statement:

This is exactly what I expected. It is consistent with Trump’s message about protecting America at all costs. With reports that Iran was imminently ready to be a full nuclear power, complete with intercontinental ballistic missiles, all backed by a deep hatred for the Great Satan (America) and the Little Satan (Israel), along with what the mullahs believed to be a message from Allah to destroy both nations...well, there was no way Trump was going to sit around and wait.

Nor was I dismayed when Trump said that he’d given Iran up to two weeks to negotiate (i.e., surrender). It was always clear that Iran would never surrender. In other words, Trump made Iran an offer he knew it would refuse, freeing him to act in America’s best interests. Trump also understands that Iran, like Japan in World War II, has a leadership in the grip of an ideology that sees the leaders reject the entire concept of surrender. They just can’t—until it’s apparent that their potential victory is not only unlikely, but completely impossible.

One great thing about today’s attack, though, that is totally unlike Japan in August 1945, is that Israel has taken exquisite care to preserve the Iranian people’s lives and infrastructure. This targeted American raid did the same. The Iranian people despise the sadistic men who have controlled their lives for decades. It’s only Western leftists, especially, and weirdly, the LGBTQ+ crowd, who admire the mullahs.

Now that the mullahs have been defanged, with their entire leadership gone and their military infrastructure in ashes, there’s every reason to believe that the Iranian people will rise up and claim their proud pre-mullah history as a gracious, pluralist society. I foresee great things.

And another thing: Trump also understands that the Muslim world, as Osama bin Laden said decades ago, will always back the strong horse. As long as America hung back behind Israel...well, it was great that it was giving Israel free rein to destroy the mullahs, but it still made America look weak, which was very dangerous. America has now made it unambiguously clear that it will not allow rogues to pose a threat. Kim Jong-un is taking note...

One more thing: Trump played this brilliantly. His White House and the Pentagon kept absolutely secret about what was to happen, without a single leak. Meanwhile, Trump’s varying jokes and pronouncements gave nothing away. All around, it was a perfectly carried out performance, starting with his fake break-up with Netanyahu, right to Fordow’s destruction.

There’s still the possibility that Iran will activate its terrorist cells, but to what end? The country’s military threat is over, and the people, with luck, will create a thriving Republic that is a model of Muslim functionality and liberty in the Middle East.

(Since I wrote that, a friend reminded me that Zoroastrianism, the ancient religion of Iran, and Christianity are the fastest-growing religions in Iran. The abuses the mullahs committed killed Islam.)

I’m as pleased as punch with this. It ain’t over ‘til it’s over, but it’s difficult to see anything but a good ending here for America, Israel, and the Iranian people.

And here’s a charming historical tidbit given the Democrats’ recent ridiculous “No Kings” protests. Louis XIV, at the height of France’s power, had engraved on French Army cannons the Latin phrase “Ultima Ratio Regum” (“The last argument of kings”). Trump is not a king, but when it comes to protecting the homeland, he understands military power.

46 Years of Economic War: Iran’s Assault on America

Since 1979, Iran’s regime hasn’t just waged ideological or military campaigns  — it has conducted a relentless, calculated war on America’s economic well-being.

From oil shocks that gutted wallets to terror sponsorship that drained defense budgets, the Islamic Republic has struck repeatedly at the very foundations of American prosperity. And now, as Israel confronts Iranian proxies on the battlefield, it’s more than a foreign policy issue — it’s a matter of national self-defense.

This isn’t about abstract diplomacy. It’s about the real-world costs Americans have paid for Tehran’s aggression — decade after decade. Every time you filled up at the pump and winced, every time inflation surged, every time jobs vanished from the energy sector, there’s a good chance the fingerprints of the mullahs in Tehran were on it.

In 1979, the Iranian revolution cut the nation’s oil output nearly in half — dropping from 6 million barrels per day in 1974 to 3.2 million by 1980. That one shift sent global oil prices soaring, costing American families an extra $35 billion per year in gasoline and heating bills. The hostage crisis that same year halted $12 billion in annual trade, disrupting agriculture and manufacturing exports—collapsing markets for American farmers and small businesses almost overnight.

As oil surged from $13 to $34 per barrel, the broader economic toll hit $70 billion in lost GDP. Jobs disappeared, gas lines stretched for miles, and inflation tore through household budgets. All of it stemmed from Iran’s ideological chaos.

During the Iran-Iraq War, which lasted from 1980 to 1988, Iran’s attacks on oil tankers in the Persian Gulf jeopardized 20% of global shipments. U.S. import costs ballooned by $20 billion annually, hammering working families. To keep oil flowing, the U.S. launched Operation Earnest Will, spending $500 million to defend shipping lanes. Those were taxpayer dollars diverted from schools and infrastructure to clean up Tehran’s mess.

Worse still, Iran’s backing of Hezbollah led to the 1983 bombing in Beirut that killed 241 U.S. Marines. In response, Washington poured $1.2 billion into Middle East security. That wasn’t foreign aid — it was a defense bill forced by Tehran’s terrorism.

By the 1990s, Iran’s nuclear ambitions prompted U.S. sanctions. American companies lost $1.5 billion annually in blocked energy contracts, bleeding away jobs that belonged to skilled American workers. And even as sanctions bit, Iran evaded them. In 1996, the regime smuggled oil into global markets, artificially deflating prices. That maneuver cost American consumers $10 billion in added fuel expenses and devastated independent oil producers.

Terror didn’t stop, either. The Khobar Towers bombing in Saudi Arabia killed 19 Americans. In its aftermath, the U.S. spent $800 million on security upgrades — all to counter Iranian-backed threats.

From 2011 to 2015, tougher sanctions aimed at halting Iran’s nuclear progress cut their oil exports by 1.5 million barrels per day. But it also drove up global prices by 10%, costing American consumers $25 billion annually in higher energy bills. The regime’s defiance carried a steep price for average families.

Yet Iran kept cheating. In 2018, it evaded sanctions to sell oil to China and other nations, costing the U.S. economy $15 billion in lost trade opportunities. This wasn’t theoretical—it was real money lost by American workers and exporters. Then came the 2019 drone strikes on Saudi oil facilities, orchestrated by Tehran. Oil prices spiked 15%, draining an extra $18 billion from American drivers’ wallets. Tehran didn’t just hit a refinery—it hit every family’s budget.

In 2023, Iran was exporting 1.3 million barrels of oil per day despite sanctions. That price manipulation slashed $10 billion in revenue from U.S. oil producers—hurting jobs in Texas, North Dakota, and beyond while Iran funneled the proceeds to terrorist proxies.

Now, Iran is launching drones and missiles directly at Israel. These aren’t isolated skirmishes — they’re a continuation of the same reckless hostility that has cost the U.S. economically for over four-and-a-half decades.

The American public deserves to understand what’s at stake. This isn’t about being pro-Israel for its own sake — it’s about opposing a regime that has spent generations draining American resources, attacking U.S. allies, and undermining our economy. Tehran’s hands have been in the pocket of every American who’s ever paid too much at the pump or watched a job vanish from the energy sector.

The time for soft-handed diplomacy is over. Decades of economic sabotage, proxy terror, and sanctions evasion have proved one thing: Iran’s regime doesn’t respond to appeasement. It ruthlessly exploits any opening in view. Standing with Israel in this moment isn’t just a strategic move—it’s a moral and economic necessity. Because in the end, this isn’t just Israel’s fight. It’s America’s fight, too.

BioAge Labs to Present Preclinical Data on APJ Agonism for Diabetic Obesity, Heart Failure at ADA

BioAge Labs (NASDAQ: BIOA) announced new preclinical data presentation at ADA's 85th Scientific Sessions regarding their APJ agonist treatment for diabetic obesity and heart failure. The data shows that APJ activation, combined with incretin therapy, demonstrated significant benefits in preclinical models. Key findings include improved glycemic control with a 25% enhancement in glucose tolerance and reduced HbA1c levels in diabetic obesity models. In heart failure models, the treatment showed cardioprotective effects and reduced cardiac hypertrophy. The company is developing both oral and injectable APJ agonist formulations, targeting an IND filing for 2026. The research suggests APJ agonists could act as exercise mimetics, potentially doubling the weight loss effects of GLP-1 receptor agonists while improving body composition and muscle function.

'Hong Kong Stock Rally Shakes Up Investor Playbook for China'

Wall Street entered 2025 with bullish bets on onshore Chinese stocks, counting on Beijing’s stimulus drive to cushion the blow from US tariffs. Six months in, they couldn’t have been more wrong.

Blame it on the breakthrough by DeepSeek in artificial intelligence that suddenly turned the tide in favor of Chinese shares listed in Hong Kong. With persistent economic woes battering the onshore market, the Hang Seng China Enterprises Index has beaten the CSI 300 Index by nearly 20 percentage points so far in 2025, heading for the biggest annual outperformance in two decades.

Hochul: 'New York Is Providing $50 Million To Cover Legal Services' For Illegal Aliens

by Debra Heine via American Greatness,

Governor Kathy Hochul (D-N.Y.) announced Tuesday that the state of New York will provide $50 million in taxpayer dollars to pay legal fees for illegal immigrants to help them fight back against the Trump administration’s popular deportation efforts.

The governor highlighted the state’s “investment” during a dramatic news conference addressing the arrest of New York City comptroller and mayoral candidate Brad Lander, who was busted by Department of Homeland Security (DHS) agents earlier Tuesday for allegedly assaulting a federal officer.

Hochul said she believed the charges against Lander had been dropped, but added that she was still concerned about illegal aliens being “taken away from their families” in New York.

“They don’t have the attention, they don’t have the lawyers and that’s why the State of New York is providing 50 million dollars to cover legal services for people who are finding themselves in this situation,” Hochul said. "We continue to do what we can to support the communities and the immigration coalitions and thank them for their work they’re doing at this time.”

Video footage of Lander’s arrest shows him tussling with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents as they escorted a defendant out of immigration court and repeatedly asking officials if they had a judicial warrant.

“I will let go when you show me the judicial warrant!” Lander said in the video. “Where is it?! Where is the warrant?!”

A few hours later, Lander walked out of the federal courthouse where he was being detained with Hochul at his side.

Democrats and their allies in the media have been hyping recent run-ins between liberal activist politicians and law enforcement in an apparent effort to portray themselves as victims of a purported “oppressive” and “authoritarian” government under President Trump.

Lander’s arrest comes a week after Rep. LaMonica McIver (D-N.J.) was hit with federal charges for allegedly interfering with federal officers during a scuffle outside an immigration detention facility in Newark, New Jersey, last month. Charges were dropped against Newark Mayor Ras Baraka for federal trespassing at the facility.

And last Thursday, Secret Service had to forcibly remove Democrat Senator Alex Padilla of California from Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem’s press conference in Los Angeles when he lunged toward the podium shouting questions.

Padilla tearfully recounted how he was thrown out of Noem’s press conference in an “emotional” speech on the Senate floor on Tuesday.

“What will a city already ON EDGE from being militarized THNK when they see their United States senator being HANDCUFFED just for trying to ask a question!” he wailed.

Padilla’s emotional outburst garnered widespread ridicule from conservative on social media.

“Real men don’t physically charge at women and then cry about it. Gaslighting 101,” quipped Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-Fla.) on X.

Authorities on Tuesday defended Lander’s arrest, pointing out that in recent months, they have seen a substantial increase in assaults against ICE officers.

“Our heroic ICE law enforcement officers face a 413 percent increase in assaults against them—it is wrong that politicians seeking higher office undermine law enforcement safety to get a viral moment,” a DHS spokesperson said. “No one is above the law, and if you lay a hand on a law enforcement officer, you will face consequences.”

“The safety and security of official proceedings, government officials, law enforcement officers, and all members of the public who participate in them is a core focus of our Office,” said Nick Biase, chief of public affairs for the U.S. Attorney’s Office. “The Department of Justice will prosecute violations of federal law.”

Governor Hochul, however, said during her presser that the arrest of Lander constituted “a sorry day for New York and our country.”

“The video is shocking, she said.  “I knew I needed to come down here immediately and check on his whereabouts, and do what I could to intervene.”

Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-N.Y.), a potential rival of Hochul in the 2026 N.Y. governor’s race, blasted the $50 million boondoggle on social media.

“$50 MILLION of NYers hard earned taxpayer dollars are being used for illegals migrants legal fees because of Kathy Hochul’s illegals first, New Yorkers LAST failed leadership in NY,” Stefanik wrote on X. “VOTE HER OUT.”

Polls consistently show that a majority of Americans support the Trump administration’s deportation policies.

Trump Confirms Strikes On Iran's Nuclear Sites: Fordow, Natanz, And Esfahan "Successfully Targeted"

 Update (2005ET):

Hours after U.S. Air Force B-2 Spirit stealth bombers departed Whiteman Air Force Base in Missouri en route to the Indo-Pacific region, President Trump announced that U.S. forces had "successfully attacked" three nuclear sites in Iran—Fordow, Natanz, and Esfahan.

The president wrote on his Truth Social:

We have completed our very successful attack on the three Nuclear sites in Iran, including Fordow, Natanz, and Esfahan. All planes are now outside of Iran air space.

A full payload of BOMBS was dropped on the primary site, Fordow. All planes are safely on their way home.

Congratulations to our great American Warriors. There is not another military in the World that could have done this. NOW IS THE TIME FOR PEACE! Thank you for your attention to this matter.

There has been no confirmation from President Trump regarding what type of USAF bombers conducted the strikes on Iran's nuclear facilities. However, based on timing and strategic capability, it is plausible that B-2 Spirit stealth bombers—previously observed departing Whiteman Air Force Base—were involved in the operation.

At this time, operational details remain limited.

*   *   *

As the Israel–Iran conflict enters Day 9, President Trump has publicly stated he will wait two weeks before deciding whether to authorize U.S. strikes on Iranian nuclear infrastructure. In parallel, U.S. Air Force B-2 Spirit stealth bombers are being repositioned to forward operating bases in the Indo-Pacific—possibly Andersen Air Force Base in Guam or Diego Garcia in the Chagos Archipelago—indicating a deliberate show of force and strategic signaling of U.S. readiness for multi-theater operations.

Fox News confirmed six B-2 stealth bombers have taken off from Whiteman AFB in Missouri and are likely to be staged at Andersen AFB in Guam.

Plus air tankers.

There is no official confirmation regarding the current force posture or final destination of the stealth bombers. For months, the USAF has staged these nuclear-capable bombers at Diego Garcia (in range of Iran)—often referred to as America's "unsinkable aircraft carrier"—located between Africa and Indonesia, approximately 1,000 miles south of India.

"President Donald Trump, who has said he will make a decision on U.S. involvement in the Israel-Iran conflict, is expected to return to the White House on Saturday afternoon. The president is expected to receive intelligence briefings with the National Security Council on Saturday and Sunday as he considers possible actions against Iran," Fox News noted.

The island provides strategic access for stealth bombers to the Middle East, Central and South Asia, and across the Indian Ocean.

Via Fox News

Previous staging of B-2s at Diego Garcia:

Staging B-2s at Guam or Diego Garcia is a clear signal of deterrence to adversaries, whether that's Iran in the Middle East or China and North Korea in Asia. The mere presence of these stealth bombers can be both preemptive and psychological.

More force posture: This week, the USAF has repositioned additional fighter aircraft and aerial refueling tankers across key regional bases in Europe, coinciding with Israel's Operation Rising Lion targeting Iranian assets. The moves come amid growing speculation that President Trump may authorize direct U.S. military involvement within the next two weeks unless Tehran makes a deal with the U.S.
