Bloods gangbanger linked to NYC hookah lounge shooting that killed 3, injured 10 more: feds

A reputed Bloods gangbanger was charged Wednesday in a caught-on-video shootout at a Brooklyn hookah lounge that left three dead and 10 others wounded, federal prosecutors said.

Elijah “Eli Spice” Roy, 25, an “associate” of the 5-9 Brims Bloods crew, was allegedly part of the crew involved in the deadly shootout with rival gang members at the crowded Taste of the City Lounge on Aug. 17, the US Attorney for the Eastern District of New York said.

“Such a flagrant disregard for human life will not go unpunished and this prosecution underscores the resolve of our office and law enforcement to eradicate gangs in the district,” US Attorney for the district, Joseph Nocella, said in a statement. “It is my hope that this arrest will give some comfort to the victims’ loved ones and the traumatized survivors of this heinous crime.”

Nocella said the gang gunmen turned the crowded club into “a kill zone” — with more than 40 shots fired in the span of just six seconds.

The chilling footage shows three of the 5-9 Brims walking into the packed lounge, then open fire on a group of rivals across the room — who return fire as patrons scramble for cover.

One of the 5-9 Brims members, identified by the feds as Marvin St. Louis, was among those killed.

According to federal prosecutors, Roy and his fellow gangbangers walked into the lounge around 3 a.m. and spotted members of the rival Folk Nation Gangster Disciples, including Jamel Childs, who was also killed when the shooting started.

Roy fled the Big Apple for North Carolina after the shootout and was picked up there by federal agents on Sept. 18.

He was named in an unsealed indictment with assault in aid of racketeering and with being a felon in possession of ammunition, prosecutors said.

“The charges brought against Elijah Roy marks another step forward in our mission to dismantle the violent street gangs that terrorize our communities with illegal firearms,” NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch said in a statement. “Alleged associates of the 5-9 Brims Gang turned a crowded club into a scene of carnage when they opened fire on their rivals.”

NYC teens caught on camera waving machetes in street after Boro Park stabbing

Two twisted teens were caught on video waving massive machetes on a Brooklyn street in broad daylight — as cops revealed the toxic pair allegedly stabbed a young man and threatened another.

The footage — posted by the Boro Park Shomrim volunteer patrol — shows one of the boys, wearing a red hoodie, with the long weapon at his side around 5:10 p.m. Monday before he’s joined by a larger group at 43rd Street and New Utrecht Avenue in Borough Park.

The group included a ruffian wearing a black hoodie who was also armed with a machete, the footage shows.

The boys can be seen running off into the street, apparently after being spotted by Shomrim members.

At one point, one of the youngsters stabbed an 18-year-old man in the back during a dispute and slashed him on the hip, police and sources said.

The boys, 14 and 15, also allegedly menaced a 26-year-old man with a machete at 45th Street and Fort Hamilton Parkway, cops said.

Cops and Shomrim members eventually caught up to the teens — with footage showing NYPD officers cuffing the teen in red on the ground.

Both were arrested and charged with gang assault, assault and criminal possession of a weapon, authorities said.

“Thanks to their rapid action, a machete was recovered, and two teenagers were arrested,” the Shomrim said of its members.

The 18-year-old victim was taken to Maimonides Medical Center, where he was listed in stable condition, police said.

Mamdani plans to phase out Gifted and Talented program in NYC elementary schools

Democratic socialist and mayoral front-runner Zohran Mamdani wants to undo the Gifted and Talented program for young New York City school kids — the latest move to revert to ex-Mayor Bill de Blasio’s era.

Mamdani, the Democratic nominee for mayor, told the New York Times that he would eliminate the program at the kindergarten level in a move that is likely to anger parents, who have been passionately divided on the issue.

The gifted classes would remain active through the school year, but would no longer be available next fall, according to the report.

The proposal by the mayoral hopeful would be the first step in phasing out the gifted program across all elementary schools — a controversial change inside the Department of Education made by de Blasio on his way out the door in 2021.

“I will return to the previous policy,” Mamdani told the outlet in a statement. “Ultimately, my administration would aim to make sure that every child receives a high-quality early education that nurtures their curiosity and learning.”

Mayor Eric Adams reversed course on that plan once he took office in 2022.
