Iran is working on securing its stockpile of enriched uranium, CNN reported, citing sources familiar with United States intelligence. Tehran is allegedly "deliberately collapsing tunnels and booby-trapping entrances with explosive mines" to prevent the extraction of the material.
According to the sources, Iran would also run into difficulty if it tried to reach the buried uranium for its own use. The status of the US-Iran negotiations on the stockpile is unclear, and the two sides would likely continue talks on Iran's nuclear program during the potential 60-day ceasefire.
