CoreWeave, Anthropic ink multi-year compute deal

CoreWeave announced a multi-year agreement on Friday to rent its data center capacity to support the deployment of AI start-up Anthropic's Claude assistant, adding to its expanding list of big-name customers.

"Under the agreement, Anthropic will use CoreWeave's cloud platform to run workloads at production scale, while benefitting from its industry-leading performance and reliability," the firms said in a press release. "With the addition of Anthropic, nine of the leading ten AI model providers now leverage CoreWeave's platform, reflecting the growing demand for infrastructure that can support AI at scale."

With the potential to grow over time, the partnership will first focus on a phased infrastructure roll-out.

Hezbollah says it hit naval base in Israel

Hezbollah said on Friday that it targeted the Ashdod Naval Base in Israel with missiles. There is currently no official confirmation from the Israeli military.

Hezbollah said the attack was motivated by Israel's "violation of the ceasefire and its repeated attacks on Beirut." The Lebanese organization stressed that it initially adhered to the ceasefire until Israel violated it with massive strikes on Lebanon on Wednesday that killed over 300 people.

'Hezbollah warns against 'free concessions' to Israel'

Hezbollah Secretary General Naim Qassem (pictured) called on Lebanon's government on Friday to stop giving "free concessions" to Israel, as both sides are expected to begin negotiations in Washington next week.

In a message to the Lebanese public, Qassem said the group would not accept a return to "the previous situation" and stressed that Israel had been "surprised by the defensive capabilities" of the resistance. He added that the Israeli army, acting "out of desperation," continues to issue threats and carry out attacks to mask "its inability on the ground." Qassem insisted the "resistance will continue until the last breath."

His comments come after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said talks with Lebanon would start "as soon as possible."

Iran's officials said to have argued about negotiating team

Senior Iranian officials were involved in a "severe disagreement" yesterday over the makeup of the negotiating team scheduled to travel to Pakistan for talks with the United States, Iran International reported on Friday.

According to the report, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Commander Ahmad Vahidi tried to "limit the powers" of Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf. He also allegedly wanted the team to include Supreme National Security Council Secretary Mohammad Bagher Zolghadr, while other delegation members believed he "lacks the necessary experience." The IRGC also reportedly insisted that the negotiating team not discuss Iran's missile program.
