The NTSB continues to gather information on the Tesla Model S systems and maintenance records to determine the availability of other data sources and the viability of data recovery postfire. The investigation will also include examining the procedures used to extinguish the battery fire and to remove and store the car postcrash. All aspects of the crash remain under investigation as the NTSB determines the probable cause with the intent of issuing safety recommendations to prevent similar crashes. The NTSB is working in partnership with the Fort Lauderdale Police Department.
