Johnson & Johnson (JNJ -0.7%) unit Ethicon is recalling its Echelon Flex Endopath Staplers for failure to completely form staples. The company says some products may contain an out-of-specification component within the jaw of the device which could lead to malformed staples, increasing the risk of prolonged surgery.
As of October 3, there have been seven serious injuries and one death associated with the issue.
