San Diego cops bust wild street racers in massive arrest sweep

California Highway Patrol is cracking down on illegal street racing and dangerous driving in the state this summer.

Officers say the summer months, especially at night, often bring an increase in high-speed activity.

In the Oceanside area in San Diego County, officers say they have been actively looking for drivers participating in illegal street racing and other dangerous behavior on local freeways and roadways.

Body camera footage recently released by CHP Oceanside shows an enforcement effort from July capturing officers stopping suspected racers and making arrests.

The video shows just how quickly an incident can turn into an arrest.

“Your vehicle is going to be towed and then we’re going to figure out what’s going to happen with you,” an officer is seen telling a driver in the footage. “The way you were driving was extremely dangerous. You were cutting it up in lanes. You could have hurt somebody. You could have killed somebody.”

Officer Hunter Gerber of Oceanside CHP told Fox 5 News that those participating in reckless driving are usually young adult males.

“They do it for the thrill. They’re driving in and out lanes at high speed,” he said.

CHP says illegal racing not only puts the drivers’ life at risk, but also that of other motorists who suddenly find themselves sharing the road with others driving at extremely high speeds, leaving no time to react if something happens.

Officers say racing activity is more active during the summer months because people are out and about for other social gatherings later into the night.

To prepare, CHP conducts targeted enforcement actions, meant to identify racers before anyone is hurt or worse killed.

Officers are reminding drivers that illegal racing can lead to citations or arrest and also that in some circumstances, their vehicles can be impounded.

To all those that encounter reckless driver, CHP suggests that driver don’t engage the vehicles in any activity, keep their distance and report the incident to local law enforcement.

DSA foreign-policy agenda sole goal: weaken America so that world’s worst regimes can reign instead

If politics required truth in advertising, the Democratic Socialists of America would be forced to rebrand to the Democratic Socialists against America. The far-left insurgents oppose everything that has propelled the United States to a position of global wealth and leadership.

Consider its foreign policy. The DSA has a simple goal: Weaken the country so that it cannot defend itself or its allies. The world’s worst regimes will then dominate in America’s place.

How? The America envisaged by the DSA will defund its military, shutter its military bases, stop “economic warfare” against malign actors like Cuba and Iran, cut off all assistance to Israel, “end immunity for U.S. war criminals,” and prosecute Americans and Israelis implicated in the Gaza “genocide.”

The DSA’s central aim, embodied in its new platform, dubbed “Workers Deserve More,” is supposedly to elevate the proletariat. If the DSA gets its way, “public ownership of the largest corporations and essential industries” will replace capitalism. We know how this movie ends: less growth, innovation and international influence for the United States. How does that benefit the American worker?

In this new iteration of the Democratic Party, the patriotism of Democrats of yore, who wanted America to be strong and do good deeds overseas, is gone. The Democratic Party that supported NATO and Ukraine, opposed tyrannies like Iran and China and voted almost unanimously to avenge the attacks of 9/11, will be no more.

During a Fox News interview last month, Shannon Bream asked national co-chair Megan Romer whether the DSA would defund the Pentagon. “Absolutely,” Romer said with alacrity.

Romer agrees with her fellow DSA stalwart, Melat Kiros, the Democratic nominee for Colorado’s 1st Congressional District, that America is to blame for everything. Kiros insists that US policy made 9/11 “inevitable.” Even illegal immigration is somehow America’s fault. Romer says illegal immigration to the United States is due to America “destabilizing countries in order to mine them for resources.”

Give Romer and her confreres credit for consistency. It’s not just that they abhor pillars of American greatness like personal responsibility, freedom of speech, and free markets. They also love the avatars of anti-Americanism in Cuba and Iran and jihadists everywhere. Whenever a regime, no matter how craven, stands against the United States, it can count on their encouragement.

According to the DSA, Israel is the sole country rivaling the United States in its depravity. DSA darling Darializa Avila Chevalier, poised be elected to Congress in November, believes that “Israel doesn’t exist.” She has never apologized for participating in a pro-Hamas rally in Times Square on Oct. 8, 2023. When pressed by David Remnick of The New Yorker, Romer defended Avila Chevalier and said that she “probably would have” attended the rally herself. Romer also called Hamas’ Oct. 7 rampage “largely inevitable.”

Some of the DSA’s support can be explained by the folly of youth. The DSA, whose average age is about 30, is remarkably young and naïve. Its ranks are full of Millennials and Zoomers who have no recollections of the Soviet Union. They think that socialism will yield abundance rather than destitution.

But 84-year-old Sen. Bernie Sanders, the godfather of these ignoramuses, can claim no such ignorance. He lived through the horrors of Maoist China, the collapse of Soviet Communism, the immiseration of socialist utopias like Cuba and Venezuela, and the bloodthirstiness of Islamists in Iran.

Sanders’ anti-Americanism is rooted in willful ignorance. Like over 80% of DSA members aged 25 or older, he has a bachelor’s degree. Yet credentials do not necessarily confer knowledge or wisdom. When these forever college juniors enjoy their semesters abroad in Barcelona or Paris, they fail to appreciate that the world welcoming them was built by American power. Who polices the global commons? The US Navy. Which country underwrites the financial system whose ATMs dispense Euros? The United States.

Polling tells us that DSA voters are overwhelmingly white and overwhelmingly college educated. They are overwhelmingly not the proletariat. Theirs is the ignorant idealism of Lenin and Trotsky. In case you missed that day in class, this earlier generation of “socialists” did not simply fail to make the Soviet Union great. They destroyed their country, their people, and their world.

That’s exactly the DSA’s agenda for America.

Parents at NYC school near toxic Gowanus Canal demand Hochul resign for endangering kids

Furious Brooklyn parents are demanding Gov. Kathy Hochul resign, accusing her administration of forcing their special needs elementary students to breathe in cancer-causing chemicals near the notorious Gowanus Canal for more than two years.

The PTA at PS 372 is in an uproar over the state’s lackluster efforts to mitigate contaminated air, which recent samples found is filled with cancer-causing compounds such as benzene and xylene — and seeping into the basement of the school’s annex building at 219 First St.

With the start of the school year less than three weeks away, they are terrified about their children’s safety.

“We are outraged that New York State agencies under your leadership have failed to safeguard the school community from documented toxic chemical threats in our indoor air for two and a half years, even though those same agencies determined that soil vapor intrusion mitigation was mandated,” parents addressed Hochul in the growing petition, that as of Friday, had more than 400 signatures.

“If you cannot protect the children, faculty and staff of PS 372, you do not deserve to be Governor of New York State,” parents said in the petition.

The state’s Department of Conservation and Department of Health have been tasked with handling the cleanup at PS 372, which has roughly 450 students.

Bruce Blakeman, Nassau County executive and a Republican running for New York governor, said it’s appalling that Hochul completely disregarded the children’s health.

“It is horrifying that Kathy Hochul has forced pre-K and kindergarten children to breathe air contaminated with cancer-causing toxins for over two years while state agencies sat on their hands,” Blakeman said.

“Leaving our youngest, most vulnerable children in a toxic basement is an unforgivable betrayal.”

The DEC vowed to address the problem in March 2024, when air and soil sampling revealed alarming levels of toxic compounds seeping into the school.

A sub-slab depressurization system — a system of pipes and fans that removes harmful gases from beneath a building and vents them outside — wasn’t installed by the DEC until a year later.

Parents only learned this summer that toxins detected within the building remain above normal levels, even though DOE and DEC officials assure that it’s still safe for children and teachers to be inside.

In an Aug. 12 letter sent to school administrators, DEC officials said they are installing heat recovery ventilators for additional filtration — but a Friday notice revealed they won’t be installed by the time the school year starts.

Walter Hang, the president of Environmental Health Research Group, which leads toxic cleanup campaigns across the state, described the HRVs as “little vacuums” that replace dirty, warm air from inside the building with air from outside.

“This system isn’t designed to operate in this situation,” Hang said. “The only solution is to get rid of the pollution.”

The only way to get rid of that pollution, Hang explained, would be to dig up all the tainted soil from underneath the school’s foundation and in the surrounding area.

“This is just an unbelievable fiasco, and the governor’s got to explain why this problem hasn’t been solved and what she’s going to do about it,” Hang said.

“If she can’t protect public health and the environment by strictly enforcing all of the legal mandates, I don’t think she should be our governor.”

The Gowanus neighborhood has dozens of brownfield sites resulting from decades of soil and groundwater pollution from gas plants and oil refineries that once lined the waterway.

A Con Edison facility with a lengthy history of environmental problems sits right across the street from the school.

PS 372’s main building at 512 Carroll St. was the site of a petroleum spill in June 2004 that was never cleaned up, public records show.

The DEC didn’t find the source and recommended that a vapor barrier be installed to stop toxic chemicals from making their way into the school, but the barrier was never installed.

In 2024, soil and air samples from the annex and the main building revealed dangerous compounds were present at both sites, but officials only found the levels at the annex alarming enough to warrant intervention.

“It feels wildly unfair to families who are being expected to enroll their children in three weeks into this situation,” said parent Julia Finegan, who has kids going into pre-K and fifth grade at the school.

Parents are worried that their children wouldn’t receive the same resources at another school.Helayne Seidman for the NY Post

“I reject the idea that it’s too hard to clean up the contaminated soil under our school,” added Michelle Tsai, the parent who started the petition. “All of us are fighting for our kids’ health, and we’re not going to stop. What we need is for our leaders to fight for us.”

Finegan said she’s heard more and more parents considering removing their children from the school, but are worried that their children might not get the same quality of education elsewhere.

Many students at PS 372 are provided services and specialized plans to meet developmental, learning, physical and emotional disabilities. The school itself uses a unique model that integrates general education and special needs students in each classroom.

“Unfortunately the DOE does not provide a lot of opportunities like our school. We have a lot of families who need an inclusive classroom for their students and they don’t have anywhere else to go,” she said.

Neither the DEC nor representatives for Hochul, who shifted into campaign mode this week with a multimillion dollar ad blitz touting her record, returned The Post’s requests for comment. A recent Siena University poll showed Blakeman is closing in on her in the deep-blue state, with Hochul leading Blakeman just 49% to 39% among likely voters. Other right-leaning pollsters report an even tighter race, with Hochul’s lead only in the single digits.

In a statement to The Post, a DOE spokesperson said, “We are taking this issue seriously and are working closely with our state partners to ensure that the appropriate measures are in place to maintain a safe learning environment at P.S. 372 when we open on time for the 2026-27 school year.”

Dunkin worker washing feet in kitchen of Staten Island Ferry site prompts health probe

 Here’s some revolting ‘sole’ food.

A Dunkin’ employee was filmed washing his feet at a kitchen sink at the chain’s location aboard a Staten Island Ferry — prompting a city Health Department investigation, The Post has learned.

An eyewitness spotted the employee lifting his tootsies and using sink water to wash his feet behind the counter and immediately began filming the stomach-churning scene, calling it “disgusting.”

The footage — posted to TikTok Aug. 11 before it quickly spread across other social media platforms — shows the worker standing in front of the sink on what appears to be an Islamic prayer rug as he suds up his feet.

The eyewitness wasn’t the only one who thought the guy had a donut-sized hole in his head.

“Would you like feet with your doughnut?” one disgusted commenter asked.

Another joked, “Is he on feet finder?”

And a third quipped, “Who needs a foot spa when you’ve got Dunkin’ Donut?”

The man appears to have been practicing wudu, the Islamic ritual of ablution performed before prayer.

It involves washing specific parts of the body — including the hands, face, arms and feet — in a prescribed sequence as an act of purification.

Muslims commonly perform wudu before the five daily prayers, known as salah, and it can also be performed before other religious activities, including handling or reading the Quran.

But the religious practice itself wasn’t the focus of the online outrage.

Rather, critics zeroed in on where the washing apparently took place: inside a commercial food-service operation and just inches from areas used to prepare food for customers.

“Religion or not, washing your feet a few inches away from the food area is wild. There has to be a better way. Mamdani, find this man a better religious accommodation,” one commenter wrote.

The Health Department told The Post in a statement, “The NYC Health Department promotes the safety of food served in the city’s restaurants so New Yorkers and visitors can dine without fear of becoming ill. Restaurants are required to follow food safety requirements,” while NYC DOT said it “is reviewing and will take appropriate action.”

Dunkin’ has not responded to The Post’s inquiries.
