Just don’t wear a blue dress to work.
The Clintons are on the lookout for a new intern to help their global foundation with research, memos, office management, and more.
The unpaid intern will work for Hillary Clinton’s office on Madison Avenue in NYC. The position requires a “high level of professionalism and discretion,” according to a posting on DayBook.
Former President Bill Clinton’s team at the foundation, meanwhile, is after a “special projects associate” to help with somewhat similar tasks. This includes drafting meeting agendas, editing briefs, and helping to coordinate activities between his office and the foundation.
Online commentators quickly poked fun at Hillary for being the one to hire the intern instead of Bill, given his history with them back in his White House days.
One commenter joked that the position is with the former first lady’s office because, “you can’t offer ‘internships with Bill Clinton’ anymore.”
“Bill lost intern privileges,” an X user joked.
“Depends on what the definition of internship is,” someone else posted.
“What sort of ‘Special Projects?'” another user asked.
“The last time a Clinton sought college interns it really really didn’t end well,” someone else observed on Instagram.
Bill’s “special projects associate” is a paid position — offering a measly $50K-$55K per year, despite having an endowment of at least $300 million. The position is similarly based in New York City.
The 42nd president infamously had a dalliance with then-22-year-old Monica Lewinsky, a White House intern in the mid-1990s. Testimony indicates that he used a cigar during the encounter with a woman who was less than half his age at the time.
Lewinsky confessed to the tryst in a private phone call with her coworker, who secretly recorded it.
Eventually, Independent Counsel Kenneth Starr obtained a blue dress that Lewinsky had been wearing during one of the encounters, with DNA evidence linking back to the then-president.
At one point, when questioned about the affair before a grand jury, Bill was pressed on his past lies about it and fussed that “It depends on what the meaning of the word ‘is’ is” while trying to contend that a statement his team previously put out to cast doubt on rumors of the affair was truthful.
Bill was later impeached over perjury and obstruction of justice related to the ordeal, before later being acquitted. He was also forced to admit to lying to the public about the affair and apologized to Hillary.
