- CRISPR Therapeutics (NASDAQ:CRSP) slumps 11% premarket on average volume after reporting topline results from an open-label Phase 1 clinical trial, CARBON, evaluating allogeneic CAR T candidate CTX110 in patients with relapsed/refractory CD19+ B-cell blood cancers.
- Participants were infused with CTX110 after three days of lymphodepletion using chemo agents fludarabine and cyclophosphamide.
- The complete response rates at dose levels 2, 3 and 4 were 33% (n=1/3), 50% (n=2/4) and 100% (n=1/1), respectively. No response was observed at dose level one (n=0/3).
- On the safety front, no dose-limiting toxicities were reported for the dose levels 1-3, but the patient who showed a complete response after receiving dose level 4 died 52 days later after being hospitalized with febrile neutropenia that progressed to significant obtundation (lethargy, slow responses to stimulation) requiring intubation. The patient was subsequently found to have encephalitis.
