- United (NASDAQ:UAL) and Delta (NYSE:DAL) say they will require all passengers on flights from the U.K. to the U.S. to present a negative COVID-19 test taken within 72 hours of departure.
- Delta's policy, which expands its earlier decision to require the screenings on U.K. flights to New York's JFK International Airport, is effective today, while United's requirement begins Dec. 28.
- The moves follow the emergence of a highly infectious new strain of coronavirus in the U.K. that has caused several countries to shut their borders to travelers from there.
- United currently has four daily flights from London Heathrow to Chicago, Newark, Washington Dulles and San Francisco; Delta also flies between London and Atlanta.
- Meanwhile, nearly 1.2M people took to the skies in the U.S. yesterday, the most since the start of the pandemic in March, despite warnings against large gatherings and travel during the holidays.
