DNC Abortion Fanaticism

If there was any remaining doubt as to where the Democratic Party stands on the issue of abortion, events at its National Convention in Chicago put those to rest. Democrats shouted their radical support for abortion from the rooftops. They assured the American people – including their own party’s rank and file – that ending the lives of innocent unborn children and wounding their mothers isn’t just a policy priority, it’s a cause to be celebrated.

The Democratic party’s shameful promotion of elective abortion at any stage also reflects the Harris-Walz campaign’s heartless extremism on the issue. Reasonable voters of all political persuasions must stand up for basic human decency and justice and reject a Harris-Walz presidency at the ballot box this fall.

At the DNC, far-left Democrats’ push for abortion ranged from grotesque to bizarre. Blocks away from convention proceedings, abortion business Planned Parenthood partnered with a local hot dog company to offer attendees free, on-the-go vasectomies, medication abortions and abortifacient drugs advertised as “emergency contraception” at their mobile clinic bus. Eight unborn children that we know of lost their lives there. Following these cruel procedures, mothers were sent on their way with a complimentary hot dog, making mockery of their personal loss. Nearby, pro-abortion activists dressed in abortion pill costumes marched in parade-like fashion.

These offensive displays show that the Democratic elite long ago abandoned their original mantra of “safe, legal and rare” and replaced it with a cult-like worship of abortion yet to be seen on a presidential campaign. In fact, only 10 percent of Americans support the Democrat no-limits position on abortion, but Harris, Walz and party leadership still refuse to name a single reasonable protection for the unborn they would support.

Any Democrat who values all human life, meanwhile, has been completely alienated by their own party on the issue, as evidenced by the Democrats for Life of America group’s decision to spearhead a diaper-drive initiative for needy mothers in protest of the DNC abortion bus. Democrats for Life lamented that "providing free abortions at the DNC is a concerning display of disrespect towards human life and motherhood…It's just shameful how low Democrats have sunk.”

Like DNC Democrats, the Harris-Walz campaign has parted ways with the any semblance of compromise or moderation. As a U.S. senator, Kamala Harris voted not once, but twice against bipartisan legislation that would have given children who survive abortions the right to the same care as other newborns at the same gestational age. Walz, for his part, made his opposition to this basic medical care crystal clear when he corrected an errant vote in support of it.

Traveling to Minnesota this year, Harris became the first sitting vice president to celebrate a Planned Parenthood abortion business – with Walz at her side – demonstrating that the abortion industry’s bottom line is higher on the priority list than her responsibility to address the unprecedented human suffering caused by our country’s open southern border.

Walz has bragged that his record is so pro-abortion Nancy Pelosi asked if he should “tone it down.” As Minnesota governor, he eliminated a $3 million funding program devoted to protecting pregnant women in need and repealed a Minnesota law that protected women from being coerced into an unwanted abortion.

Records like this, plus disgusting demonstrations and downright offensive displays at the DNC underscore the Democratic elite’s dark and hopeless vision for America. Voters are smart. They can see that the dark values being peddled by Democrat leaders fail to align with theirs.
