Russian Security Council Deputy Chairman Dmitry Medvedev revealed on Friday that more than 422,000 people have signed contracts to join the country's armed forces during the past year.
"This is the final data we have. And another 32,000 people have signed contracts for voluntary service, meaning these are our volunteers," Medvedev specified, according to a video he posted on the Russian messenger app Max.
According to Ukrainian estimates, the number of Russian troops deployed on the frontlines in Ukraine is more than 700,000, the highest since the start of hostilities in 2022.
