The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) said on Thursday that its teams at nuclear power plants in Ukraine took notice of military activity in recent days but did not detect any damage to plants.
Additionally, the agency disclosed that it was notified by Russia that a drone had hit on July 5 and damaged a cooling tower of a power unit that was being built at the Kursk NPP-2.
"These incidents show that the nuclear safety and security situation remains fragile during the war, with military activity continuing to take place near major nuclear facilities. I once again call for maximum military restraint around nuclear sites and for full respect of the Seven Indispensable Pillars for ensuring nuclear safety and security during an armed conflict, as well as for the Five Concrete Principles for protecting the ZNPP," IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi stated.
