Agenus Breakthrough Data on Botensilimab/Balstilimab in MSS CRC Presented at ASCO
Agenus Inc. (“Agenus”) (Nasdaq: AGEN), a leader in developing novel immunological agents to treat various cancers, today announced a novel analysis from the Phase 1b trial of botensilimab in combination with balstilimab (BOT/BAL) in relapsed/refractory microsatellite stable colorectal cancer (r/r MSS CRC) with no active liver metastases (NLM) will be presented at the upcoming 2024 American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Annual Meeting on June 1, 2024. The analysis shows that BOT/BAL is active in metastatic sites beyond the lungs and lymph nodes, including the peritoneum, soft tissue, and brain, which have historically been unresponsive to treatment.
Apellis Positive One-Year Data from Phase 2 Study
Apellis Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (Nasdaq: APLS) and Sobi® (STO:SOBI) today announced positive one-year results from the Phase 2 NOBLE study investigating systemic pegcetacoplan, a targeted C3 therapy, for the treatment of post-transplant recurrence of C3 glomerulopathy (C3G) and primary immune complex membranoproliferative glomerulonephritis (IC-MPGN). These data were presented during a late-breaking oral presentation at the European Renal Association (ERA) Congress taking place May 23-26 in Stockholm, Sweden.
Rand Paul: Fauci And NIH Emails "Sound Like The Mob Talking"

GOP Senator Rand Paul earlier this week charged that newly released emails dating from the pandemic exchanged between COVID era health officials working with Anthony Fauci provide evidence of an “extensive cover up.”
The communications were obtained by the House Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic via subpoena from Dr. David Morens, Fauci’s former senior adviser.
In a press release, the subcommittee stated that the emails suggest “Dr. Fauci was aware of Dr. Morens’ nefarious behavior and may have even engaged in federal records violations himself.”
In a Fox News interview, Paul noted that the communications are an “indication something was going on that was inappropriate,” and that “the cover-up is the crime.”
Paul pointed to a previously released email from Francis Collins, former Director at the NIH, referring to scientists holding differing thoughts on the origin of COVID and expressing a desire to “take these people down.”
“Take down these scientists that disagree with us. The scientists from Harvard, from Stanford that have a different opinion on how we should do public health policy, take them down,” Paul further described the email between Collins and Fauci as saying.
Paul then referred to the newly acquired emails where the officials discuss “back channels” of communication, referring to using private email addresses to avoid the Freedom of Information Act.
“I mean, it really sounds like a mob hit. It sounds like the mob talking,” Paul emphasised, adding “They have secret channels. The emails about secret back channels. They have a secret person like a courier.”
Paul also asserted that the emails show Fauci and the others “were all working together to delete evidence.”
In one particular email, Morens noted that he was seeking help from “our IT folks” and “our FOIA lady” on “how to make emails disappear.”
“You have the FOIA lady, the person who was supposed to help you comply with releasing your emails teaching them how to cover up. That is in all likelihood a crime,” Paul urged.
He continued, “What has to happen is we have to find a prosecutor who believes in justice to begin prosecuting this, because my guess is the FOIA lady may tell the truth if she is asked to talk about David Morens.”
On June 16, 2020, Morens sent an email to Peter Daszak, copying in other members of EcoHealth, noting “We are all smart enough to know to never have smoking guns, and if we did we wouldn’t put them in emails and if we found them we’d delete them.”
“Morens might tell the truth if he is being prosecuted about Anthony Fauci,” Paul further posited, adding “they are all connected, they were all covering up, and they were all deleting evidence and deleting records. Illegal and a felony.”
“This cover-up is extensive, NIH has refused to give me the documents, I have been asking over two years for documents from NIH, it’s a complete cover up,” Paul urged, adding “This is unprecedented, someone should go to jail.”
In testimony Wednesday, Morens claimed that he and Daszak and their families faced death threats in early 2020 and that their correspondence “wasn’t government business.”
Despite admitting to deleting emails and needing to “scrupulously rely on” private accounts in the correspondence itself, Morens testified that he could not remember carrying out official government communication via personal addresses.

In another email to Daszak, Morens referenced an article headlined “NIH awards $7.5 million grant to EcoHealth Alliance, months after uproar over political interference” and directly asked for his own “kickback” for his role in assisting on the grant.
He wrote “Ahem … do I get a kickback???? Too much f*****g money! DO you deserve it all?”
Daszak replied “Of course there’s a kick-back. It starts with 5 more years of FOIA requests.”
The subcommittee noted “this action is not only highly concerning, but it is also likely illegal.”
In a further email from Morens to Daszak, Fauci’s advisor expressed a desire that “nutters” stop looking into their shady activity and to “move on to another conspiracy.”
In another email about grants, Daszak literally said “this should go away if Rand Paul doesn’t amplify it too much.”
Fauci is scheduled to testify before Congress on June 3.

Trump Says Bronx Residents Being Left Behind By Biden Policies
Former President Donald Trump took aim at President Joe Biden over a range of issues while vowing to turn New York City around “very quickly” at a rally in the South Bronx on Thursday.
President Trump made the comments in front of a crowd estimated at 25,000 supporters in one of the most Democratic counties in the nation.
His appearance at Crotona Park, which comes as he is on trial in New York, marked his first large-scale campaign in the state since 2016, when he held two events at the Times Union Center in Albany and another in Buffalo.
As Axios (of all people) reported, the Thursday night drew a crowd that looked very different than the typical MAGA flock.
The unusual sight of Trump speaking to several thousand people in a predominantly Hispanic neighborhood in deep blue New York is a sign of the realignment happening between the two parties.
Trump's GOP is becoming more working class and a little more multiracial.
Democrats are gaining with more well-educated voters in the suburbs.
The thousands of people gathered to see the former president were a diverse group of people, including what Fox News Digital noted were Black, Hispanic, White, Asian and Muslim supporters.
Ahead of Trump's rally yesterday, both the Biden and Trump campaigns rushed to paint to their opponents as racist and a worse choice for Black voters.
The Biden campaign put out a digital and television ad that begins: "Trump disrespecting Black folk is nothing new." The campaign posted on X: "Let's remember that Trump is a lifelong racist."
The Trump campaign responded with a reminder that Biden helped pass the 1994 Crime Bill that led to mass incarceration disproportionately impacting minorities.
As Katabella Roberts reports via The Epoch Times, President Trump used the rally to criticize his Democratic rival and his immigration policies amid the ongoing crisis at the southern border, telling the crowd of attendees that his rival was failing to “get the job done” for those living in the Bronx.
He also described his rival “grossly incompetent.”
President Trump said that under President Biden’s watch, impoverished communities and minorities have been hit the hardest. He said President Biden’s policies have seen inflation, crime, and illegal immigration rise.
“African Americans are getting slaughtered, Hispanic Americans are getting slaughtered,” President Trump said.
“These millions and millions of people that are coming into our country—the biggest impact and the biggest negative impact is against our black population and our Hispanic population who are losing their jobs, losing their housing, losing everything they can lose.”
‘MAGAnomics’
The presumptive Republican nominee won loud applause when he promised to “throw out” Biden’s economic policies on “Day One” and “replace it with MAGAnomics.”
“The minute Joe Biden shuffles out the door, I will rapidly rebuild the greatest economy in the history of the world,” he added.
President Trump also used the rally to share his plans for the city—which is home to some of his sprawling business empire.
The former U.S. leader, likewise, vowed to bolster public safety and access to education, among other things.
“I’m here tonight to declare we are going to turn New York City around, and we are going to turn it around very, very quickly,” President Trump said moments after taking the stage.
“We’re going to bring safety back to our streets, we’re going to bring success back to our schools, we’re going to bring prosperity back to every neighborhood in every borough of the greatest city in our land.”
President Trump also vowed to reduce taxes while simultaneously bringing business and “big taxpayers” back to New York.
“We are going to make New York bigger, better, and more beautiful than ever before, and that includes right here in the Bronx,” he declared to a cheering crowd.
The real estate mogul added that the overhaul of New York would be funded by “our great and beautiful White House” as soon as he takes office if he were to win in the Nov. 5 presidential elections.
President Trump also spoke of how the city was close to his heart while praising New Yorkers, who he said had built the city into “the towering forests of iron, aluminum, concrete, and steel.”
NYC—‘Capital of Global Commerce’
“We made the city and state into the capital of global commerce, we turned our hometown into the bustling center of a confident glamorous American culture, and we inspired the entire world, we inspired the world,” he said. “But sadly, this is now a city in decline.”

The businessman also used Thursday’s rally to highlight the ongoing homelessness and drug crisis plaguing the city while taking aim at what get said were “mobs of migrants fighting our police officers and giving America the middle finger.”
“Throughout my life, I’ve seen New York through good times and bad times, through boom times and crime waves, through market crashes and terrorist attacks, but I’ve never seen it quite like this,” President Trump said.
President Trump’s rally in the Bronx neighborhood comes amid a brief pause in his criminal trial in Manhattan, with the jury set to begin deliberations on whether or not to convict him of felony charges next week.
The former U.S. leader has been charged in connection to a $130,000 payment from his former personal attorney, Michael Cohen, to Stephanie Clifford, better known as adult entertainment actress Stormy Daniels, during his 2016 campaign.
He has pleaded not guilty to all counts.

UCLA Med School Prioritized Racial Diveristy, Leads To "Shocking Decline" In Medical Knowledge: Report
The University of California Los Angeles medical school is admitting underqualified racial minorities in the interest of diversity, according to a report in The Washington Free Beacon.
The report, published today, is based on interviews with medical professors and officials, many of whom have knowledge of the admissions process.
The Free Beacon also obtained emails and “internal data on student performance.”
A professor said in the article that while there are “good graduates” from UCLA, “a third to a half of the medical school is incredibly unqualified.”
UCLA’s admissions committee, under Dean Jennifer Lucero, a medical doctor, has pushed through under qualified minorities ahead of white and Asian applicants, the Free Beacon reported.
The decisions included in the article occurred prior to the Supreme Court’s ban on affirmative action last summer. California has banned affirmative action since voters approved a ballot proposition in 1996.
Lucero’s committee “gives black and Latino applicants a pass for subpar metrics, four people who served on it said, while whites and Asians need near perfect scores to even be considered,” the Free Beacon reported.
At the same time UCLA’s ranking has declined and some students are going through medical school without grasping basic knowledge.

One professor said that a student in the operating room could not identify a major artery when asked, then berated the professor for putting her on the spot. Another said that students at the end of their clinical rotations don’t know basic lab tests and, in some cases, are unable to present patients.
“I don’t know how some of these students are going to be junior doctors,” the professor said. “Faculty are seeing a shocking decline in knowledge of medical students.”
And for those who’ve seen the competency crisis up close, double standards in admissions are a big part of the problem.
“All the normal criteria for getting into medical school only apply to people of certain races,” an admissions officer said. “For other people, those criteria are completely disregarded.”
The story also alleges Lucero (pictured above) has “lashed out at officials who question the qualifications of minority candidates.”
In one instance, she reportedly “chewed out the committee and made members sit through a two-hour lecture on Native history delivered by her own sister,” after the committee rejected a “Native American applicant.”
The medical school has regularly embraced “diversity, equity, and inclusion,” including adding courses on “community service” and “social justice,” and providing less time for science courses, according to the Free Beacon.
George Mason University law Professor David Bernstein suggested there could be legal problems for UCLA.
“You’d have to go pretty far for me to say that a medical school should either be sued entirely out of existence or denied any additional federal funds, which would amount to the same thing,” he wrote on X.
“But if even half the allegations in this article are true, UCLA Medical School should cease to exist, and should be replaced by a new institution that (a) obeys the law; and (b) cares about the competence of the students it graduates.”
Rep. Arrington Responds to Biden’s 'New' [Previous] Student Loan ‘Forgiveness’ Scheme
[In mid April] the Department of Education released its first set of draft rules for President Biden’s next attempt to cancel student loan debt. Under these plans, more than 30 million borrowers would see some, or all, of their student loans cancelled, with the cost being shifted onto taxpayers.
House Budget Committee Chairman Jodey Arrington (R-TX) released the following statement regarding the most recent Biden student loan bailout:
“Here we go again: President Biden is circumventing Congress and defying the Supreme Court as he continues to peddle reckless student loan bailouts.
Don’t let Democrats fool you. President Biden's actions don't 'cancel' any loans. Instead, they shift up to a $750 billion tax burden onto the shoulders of every American - many of whom do not even have a college degree - to pay the debts of high-income earners who freely incurred them.
While our country stares down an unprecedented debt crisis, one thing is clear: America cannot afford four more years of President Biden’s spending addiction.”
Background:
Today’s plans would cancel some, or all, student loan debt for 30 million borrowers. This is on top of the $153 billion in student debt President Biden has already canceled for 4.3 million borrowers.
Though details and a Congressional Budget Office (CBO) score are still forthcoming, cost estimates from Penn Wharton Budget Model (PWBM) and the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget (CRFB) indicate the plan could cost taxpayers anywhere from $84 billion to $750 billion.
Both PWBM’s and CRFB’s report highlight what so-many Americans already know: Biden’s student loan schemes overwhelmingly favor wealthy Americans.
The Bottom Line:
In just three years, the Biden Administration has attempted to spend an unprecedented $1 trillion on loan “forgiveness” in a clear circumvention of Congress. This includes:
President Biden’s FY 2025 budget proposal doubles down on these student loan bailouts, requesting $290.3 billion to “reduce the cost of and expand access to postsecondary education, and training,” including $90 billion for “free community college.”
In stark contrast, House Budget Committee’s FY 2025 “Reverse the Curse” Budget Resolution protects taxpayer dollars by ending current and future student loan bailouts.
