Trump ignores Newsome ‘Liberation Day’ event plan in gerrymandering fight

California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) on Wednesday confirmed that he and other local Democrats would hold a high-profile press conference geared towards combating the legislative effort to add five additional House seats in Texas.

Donald Trump is about to have a very bad day,” Newsom wrote in a Wednesday post on X.

The president previously told reporters that Republicans were “entitled” to additional seats and said the FBI “may have to” go after Democratic lawmakers who fled the Lone Star State to ensure a vote approving the measure didn’t pass.

Newsom, Gov. JB Pritzker (D-Ill.) and Gov. Kathy Hochul (D-N.Y.) have been working alongside state legislatures to develop a plan to add additional guaranteed Democratic seats in the House through redistricting.

The process requires states to change their constitutions or bylaws to allow for redistricting outside of a census year, when congressional maps are typically redrawn.

“DEMOCRATS WILL DESTROY [Texas Gov.] GREG ABBOTT’S ‘TOTALLY RIGGED MAPS.’ TREMENDOUS WORK IS BEING DONE.  DONALD TRUMP (THE CRIMINAL PRESIDENT) GET READY FOR THE MOST BEAUTIFUL PAYBACK YOU’VE EVER SEEN!!!” Newsom’s official press office account wrote on X

“COULD BE THE WORST DAY OF YOUR LIFE AS YOUR PRESIDENCY ENDS (DEMS RETAKE CONGRESS!). AMERICA WILL BE LIBERATED — ‘LIBERATION DAY’ MANY ARE CALLING IT!!! THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER!” the statement added.

The conference is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. on Thursday and will include members of the California legislature.

Newsom penned a letter to Trump on Monday pressing the president to have Texas and other red states stop their mid-decade redistricting efforts, saying “you are playing with fire, risking the destabilization of our democracy, while knowing that California can neutralize any gains you hope to make.”

“If you will not stand down, I will be forced to lead an effort to redraw the maps in California to offset the rigging of maps in red states,” he added. “But if the other states call off their redistricting efforts, we will happily do the same.”

Newsom’s office gave Trump until Tuesday evening to reply to the letter, but Trump failed to respond.

On wildfires, Canada's leaders can take a hike

Nova Scotia Premier Tim Houston and New Brunswick Premier Susan Holt recently seem to have decided that global warming/climate change has gotten so bad that even walking in the woods could cause spontaneous conflagrations in their wildfire-plagued country.

So no hiking!

According to LifeSite News:

Under the current restrictions, hiking, camping, fishing, and the use of vehicles in Nova Scotia forests is punishable by a $25,000 fine. Access to beaches and non-wooded parks and camping at official campgrounds, such as provincial parks and private campgrounds, is still permitted.

At the same time, “people can use a short trail from a parking lot to a beach but cannot take a long hike through the woods to get to beaches or lakes.” The announcement did not explain its seemingly arbitrary set of rules.

Moore told LifeSiteNews that the ban is especially concerning as it treats every citizen as a problem rather than focusing on those who carelessly leave fires unattended or purposefully commit arson.

Here's what every-citizen-a-problem actually means, according to CTV:

[Canadian citizen Jeff] Evely believes his constitutional rights have been violated by the ban, which he considers a “blanket punishment.”

“It needs to be minimally impairing and logically connected to the goal. My sneakers do not give off sparks when I’m walking in the woods,” said Evely in an interview with CTV National News. “I find it quite insulting to my intelligence that (Nova Scotia Premier Tim Houston) has determined that I can’t be trusted to walk my dog through the park near my house, because some other guys is a bit of a firebug.”

Meanwhile, Holt subsequently went on record as saying the directive to avoid walking amongst trees was not, in fact, due to the risk of more fires, but due to the risk that hikers themselves could possibly get hurt while strolling through the forest at a time when EMTs and emergency vehicles and apparatus are dedicated to fighting fires.

In other words, their fellow Canadians will not be allowed to take the risk that they could get a booboo and the government wouldn’t be there to help them out.

But Houston, we have a problem. (And I bet no Holts will be barred from any activity.)

If everybody and everything is spread out across Canada fighting fires, you could say the same thing about fishing, playing tennis … or any other activity.

What’s more, by far the most dangerous activity of all, with a 100% chance of impacting any and everyone, is breathing in the toxic smoke from the fires themselves. Fires with which Canada’s dedicated fire-fighting assets have been entirely unable to contain for the entirety of the summer thus far.

Are today’s Canadians this willing to allow their government to tell them they can’t walk in the woods?

That means they can’t walk in almost any part of Canada, except perhaps the most urban areas where help might be more quickly available or above the tree line. And, sadly, the former is now particularly dangerous due to the literally countless numbers of undocumented “guests” the country has let in, the latter because it truly is an extraordinarily harsh environment and exceedingly remote. So, perhaps Canucks should just stay in their homes and wait for the fires to burn themselves out naturally, in, say, 2032. If they (and we) are lucky.

Are Nova Scotians and New Brunswickers experiencing a bit of déjà vu? It's almost like The Plandemic all over again, isn’t it? “Stay inside and be safe! That’s an order! Sit-up! Roll-over! Play dead!” These Maritime Canucks should tell Houston and Holt to go lay by their dishes. Or are many Canadians this docile now? This afraid?

What became of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, lumberjacks, and rough and tumble hockey players? What has become of the country that once fought valiantly in World War II and whose troops stormed Juno Beach?

Today its citizens seem unable to push back effectively against forest fires and the abusive actions of their leaders in government.

Maybe those leaders need to “take a hike.”

The UN lies about famine in Gaza to justify funding Hamas at expense of other nations

We are repeatedly and insistently told that there is a famine in Gaza, despite the millions of tons of food that Israel and the UN have shipped there. This is a despicable lie, and it was made possible in significant part because the UN deliberately changed the metrics for what constitutes a famine. In this way, it can justify spending 45% of its aid funding on Gaza, while other parts of the world genuinely starve.

If you were alive in the 1990s, you remember what a real famine looks like. It looks like this famous image of a starving child being stalked by a vulture during the famine in the Sudan. (Amazingly, the child survived.)

Evyatar David, digging his grave in a Hamas tunnel, while his portly captors wave food around, is also what famine looks like:

What does not look like famine are the plump faces of Gazan children, seen in this CBS News promo for its interview with Mike Huckabee (an interview edited so much that CBS News managed to delete everything Huckabee exposed about Hamas’s tactics and propaganda):

The absence of a famine is especially clear when the healthy-looking but “starving” Gazan children break character, after first being filmed weeping hysterically about their alleged hunger:

And most places that are experiencing an extreme famine don’t celebrate an ice cream shop opening, with well-fed citizens dining on sweet treats:

There is no famine. It’s a propaganda con that will be studied for decades to come.

Now we’re learning that part of Hamas’s success in selling this narrative happened because the Orwellian UN helpfully changed how it defines “famine”:

The U.N.-affiliated watchdog group that recently declared a “worst-case scenario of famine” in Gaza quietly changed one of its key reporting metrics while doing so, making it easier to formally declare that there is a famine in the Hamas-controlled territory.

The Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC)—a network of Western governments, the United Nations, and nonprofit groups—determined in a July 29 report “the worst-case scenario of famine is currently playing out in the Gaza Strip,” claiming that “mounting evidence shows that widespread starvation, malnutrition, and disease are driving a rise in hunger-related deaths.”

[snip]

Unlike previous IPC reports on the humanitarian situation in Gaza, the July report includes a metric—known as mid-upper arm circumference (MUAC)—the agency has not historically used to determine whether a famine is taking place. The report also includes a lowered threshold for the proportion of children who must be considered malnourished for the IPC to declare a famine, down to 15 percent from 30 percent.

Aid workers traditionally conduct detailed weight and height measurements to determine whether a child is suffering from acute malnutrition. MUAC, by contrast, consists only of a child’s arm circumference, a measurement that can be done more quickly and is considered less precise.

No such metrics have ever before been used to document famines, and it’s doubtful that they ever will be used again. The purpose behind these new metrics is to demonize Israel. After all, between 2015 and 2023, the UN General Assembly issued 154 resolutions condemning Israel versus 71 against all other countries in the world. Between 2006 and May 2023, the UN Human Rights Council issued 103 resolutions condemning Israel, versus 177 against the rest of the world.

Moreover, the UN isn’t just making noise by voting against Israel. It’s putting its money (22% of which comes from US taxpayers) behind those votes. Thus, while there are actual famines in Sudan (which looks again like Sudan in the 1990s), Haiti, Yemen, Mali, Somalia, Burundi, and Chad, that’s not where the UN is putting its money. Instead, 45% of its global aid relief is going to...you guessed it, Gaza:

Given that Hamas has stolen most of the food that’s entered Gaza, this means that the UN has effectively used 45% of its aid money to fund Hamas, a terrorist organization dedicated to annihilating worldwide Jewry, starting with Israel. (After which, it will begin to slaughter Christians, just as Muslims across Africa and the Middle East have been doing.)

The UN arose from the ashes of World War II. World War II, in turn, saw the most concerted effort in the modern world to erase a people through genocide. There’s a cruel irony in the fact that the UN is now dedicated to completing the task that Hitler started, for there can be no doubt that this utterly corrupt organization is dedicated to annihilating the world’s only Jewish state.

The Left Has Turned Psychotherapy into the Problem It Was Invented to Cure

It has been 130 years since Sigmund Freud and Josef Breuer introduced the world to the idea of a “talking cure” in their 1895 paper on the treatment of hysteria. And while many schools of psychotherapy have since come and gone, the mission of the vast majority of mental health professionals has until recently remained the same: To free troubled patients from self-defeating beliefs, to help them decide for themselves the deeper questions of faith and personal philosophy, and to encourage them to set their own priorities.

It is therefore ironic -- and even more disheartening -- that having done so much to help earlier generations think for themselves, professional psychology has today become an institution that seeks to promote a rigid, externally devised, and even painful worldview. Dispensing with long-established techniques for helping people overcome cognitive and behavioral difficulties, a growing number of counselors now practice a progressive alternative called “Social Justice Therapy” (SJT). As the name implies, it blames personal problems on the social power of uncaring elites and attempts to recruit patients as activists for government programs to assist disadvantaged groups.

While exact numbers are elusive, recent research by concerned observers like Richard E. Redding of the Crean College of Health and Behavioral Sciences at Chapman University, suggests that between 25 to 40 percent of working therapists -- social workers, clinical psychologists, psychiatrists, and various counselors -- now believe that their primary job is to engineer social change. And while this range is not yet a majority, it is already at or above the 25% threshold usually needed for a rising trend within a profession to become a settled norm. Indeed, even therapists who do not subscribe to SJT report growing pressure to mimic its tenets at public forums and academic gatherings.

What is clear is the extent to which SJT now dominates the training of American mental health workers. For example, the five core values of George Mason University’s Counseling Program, highlighted in its mission statement, are “social justice, multiculturalism, internationalism, advocacy, and leadership.” The University of Tennessee’s psychology department similarly bases its coursework on the “feminist, multicultural, and social justice principles of equity, sharing power, giving voice, raising consciousness, and cultural humility.” Even many medical schools, as American Enterprise Institute senior fellow Sally Satel has warned, are shifting their psychiatry curricula “toward social justice and the identity of the physician [as] activist.”

Equally clear is the alarm of traditional therapists like Jonathan Alpert, who has seen firsthand in his New York City and Washington, D.C., practices how a healthcare system that once fostered resilience has become a tool for promoting victimhood and social division. One female patient, he remembers, “told me her previous therapist urged her to quit a new job after only one week because it ‘triggered’ her. The real issue was [her] difficulty taking directions. But instead of confronting it, the therapist simply validated her discomfort.”

“Another patient was told that setting ‘healthy boundaries’ meant cutting off her entire family. No conversation, no healing -- just isolation framed as progress. This is not therapy. It is enabling [unhealthy relationships].”

To fully appreciate what has happened to psychotherapy, one must first recognize that the field has always attracted a disproportionately large number of leftists. A 2019 survey by Nili Solomonov of Weill Cornell Medical College and Adelphi University researcher Jacques P. Barber is just one of many which reveal the extent to which mental health workers are politically biased. In their own study, two-thirds of therapists identified as Democrat, just under a quarter as Independent, but only 7 percent as Republican.

But until recently, almost every trained counselor would have said that letting one’s politics influence patient treatment was not only unethical, but professionally incompetent. A long line of studies, beginning in 1936, has consistently shown that the only factor associated with successful outcomes is the willingness of the therapist to separate his or her private convictions from those of the client. To develop a posture of caring neutrality technically known as “the therapeutic alliance.”

The clear implication of this approach, as Dr. Jerome Frank noted in his classic text, Persuasion and Healing: A Comparative Study of Psychotherapy (1961), is for a therapist to never begin treatment with a predetermined idea of what the patient should end up thinking. And historically, even the most left-leaning counselors have observed this caution.

The unfortunate willingness of today’s practitioners to violate the therapeutic alliance owes much to the rise of progressive activism at the colleges and universities where they were taught. As University of Chicago research associate Pamela Paresky and California State University professor Bradley Campbell have documented, what started as left-wing campaigns to censor supposedly harmful words (“microaggressions”) eventually became a pretext for not just keeping conservative speakers off campus but dictating what could be taught in social science departments, with the result that aspiring counselors who already leaned Left were no longer discouraged from mixing politics with therapy, while politically moderate students felt little choice but to get with the new program.

And even after graduation, most therapists remain under the sway of journals, publishers, professional organizations, and other progressively biased academic institutions. For example, the American Counseling Association (ACA) Code of Ethics lists “promoting social justice” alongside “cultural competence” as a core value of the field. And the American Psychological Association’s (APA) official “Guidelines for Psychological Practice with Boys and Men” frames stoicism, competitiveness, self-reliance, and other traditionally male traits so negatively that one reviewer compared it to psychiatric abuse in the old Soviet Union.

The good news is that despite the many pressures to conform, a small number of mental health workers are attempting to reverse their profession’s shift from individual healing to social activism. In 2020 an organization called Critical Therapy Antidote was set up with the explicit goal of preserving “the long established apolitical… tradition in talking therapies.” And in 2022, former University of Pennsylvania Medical School dean Stanley Goldfarb founded a non-profit called Do No Harm, which focuses on keeping identity politics out of health-related education, research, and clinical practice.

There is even an online directory for would-be patients wanting to discuss their problems with someone who is not a political activist. And at least two recently published texts, Cynical Therapies. Perspectives on the Antitherapeutic Nature of Critical Social Justice, edited by Dr. Val Thomas, and Ideological and Political Bias in Psychology. Nature, Scope, and Solutions, co-edited by Dr. Craig Frisby and others, help students to see the inherent contradiction of trying to free a troubled mind while simultaneously indoctrinating it.

Supporting all these efforts is the Society for Open Inquiry in the Behavioral Sciences, founded in 2022 out of concern that “sociopolitical dogmas and ideological norms” were ruining social science. In addition to publishing its own journal and textbooks, the group hosts conferences, sponsors online events, and runs a website aimed at separating progressive activism from professional practice.

But perhaps the most promising development is the growing body of research which suggests that social justice counseling not only fails to cure emotional problems but actually aggravates them. Recent studies from the Journal of Research in PersonalitySSM-Mental HealthPew Research, and FiveThirtyEight founder Nate Silver all show that left-wing thought has an intrinsic tendency to make people depressed, anxious, and indecisive -- some quite seriously. This is consistent with older psychological experiments on so-called “learned helplessness,” which showed how believing one’s problems to be caused by powerful external forces (rather than subject to personal control) made them harder to overcome.

Even though such findings have yet to persuade today’s progressive therapists to reprioritize patient well-being over social justice recruitment, they will eventually have to come to terms with the fact that practicing SJT has harmed their own mental health. Until then, any unhappy person wanting to talk with someone else about his or her troubles needs to be aware that too many in the so-called “helping professions” are more interested in changing the world than in curing the individual.

Red Star Rising Over NYC: China’s Hidden Hand in the ‘Jews for Zohran’ Scam

If you thought New York politics couldn’t get more cynical, think again.

An exposé from The New York Post has shone a harsh spotlight on one more act in the city’s ideological theater of the absurd—Jews for Zohran, a meticulously choreographed campaign crafted to launder the record of Zohran Mamdani, the self-styled Democratic Socialist assemblyman from Queens with a well-documented history of Israel-bashing.

The group’s name sounds grassroots—almost quaint—like typical campaign affinity group fare.

But its roots lie not in Astoria or the Bronx, and certainly not in Israel, but halfway around the globe in Shanghai, where pro-Beijing billionaire Neville Roy Singham now resides.

And here’s the kicker: the political director behind “Jews for Zohran” is Alicia Singham Goodwin, niece of the Marxist tech mogul long accused of pushing Chinese Communist Party narratives through a web of shell organizations and activist fronts.

The niece of the China-based billionaire purportedly backing left-wing protest groups in the US spearheaded the ‘Jews for Zohran’ Mamdani campaign — a bid to give the Israel-bashing candidate cover from antisemitism accusations and win over Jewish voters, The Post reports.

Let that sink in. A family member of Neville Roy Singham—a CCP-aligned operative bankrolling far-left activism—is running cover for New York State Assemblyman Zohran Mamdani.

And Mamdani needs it. He has branded Israel an “apartheid” regime, endorsed the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement, and accused it of operating “in all its settler-colonial forms.”

Pressed during the June Democrat mayoral debate on whether Israel has the right to exist “as a Jewish state,” Mamdani replied, “As a state with equal rights.”

In a follow-up TV interview, he claimed, “I’m not comfortable supporting any state that has a hierarchy of citizenship on the basis of religion or anything else… Equality should be enshrined in every country in the world”.

The problem? It’s an ideological canard—a stock trope of the BDS movement, not an accurate reading of Israeli law.

While the Law of Return grants Jews worldwide a path to automatic citizenship and the 2018 Nation-State Law affirms Israel’s Jewish national identity, once citizenship is granted, Israeli Arabs, Druze, Christians, and other minorities hold the same legal rights as Jewish citizens—voting, property ownership, free speech, and eligibility for public office.

Mamdani’s “hierarchy” charge is more than just wrong—it’s agitprop, collapsing the distinction between Israel’s national identity and its civil rights protections to cast the very idea of a Jewish state as inherently illegitimate.

He has also repeatedly declined to condemn the slogan “globalize the Intifada,” calling it symbolic and insisting it is not the mayor’s position to “police language.” Only after sustained backlash did he say he avoids the phrase and now discourages its use—this, despite declaring the Palestinian cause “central to my identity,” both in and out of politics.

As it turns out, “Jews for Zohran” operates as a finely tuned shield for Mamdani—whether he is abroad or back in New York—while his political operatives and media allies work to sculpt and reinforce the narrative in his favor.

According to the Post,

Jews for Zohran is now working with city Comptroller Brad Lander and Rep. Jerry Nadler to persuade more Jewish political figures—such as Sen. Chuck Schumer and Rep. Dan Goldman—to back Mamdani for mayor.

Singham, a Marxist, amassed his fortune in American tech—selling his company ThoughtWorks for $785 million in 2017—before relocating to China, where he and his wife, CodePink co-founder Jodie Evans, run a global far-left funding network.

The Network Contagion Research Institute describes them as a “power couple” within the international hard left, with close financial, interpersonal, and ideological ties to the CCP.

From his PRC base, Singham has funneled millions into far-left causes worldwide—many mirroring Beijing’s agenda. In the U.S., that means bankrolling groups that parrot CCP talking points: anti-Israel, anti-West, and anti-capitalist.

Unsurprisingly, his funding has avoided organizations that genuinely support Jewish or pro-Israel interests, channeling his network ever deeper into a CCP-aligned “revolutionary ecosystem.”

The Network Contagion Research Institute (NCRI) found that the “Shut It Down for Palestine” (SID4P) movement—formed after the October 2023 Hamas attack—is powered by groups like the People’s Forum, ANSWER Coalition, and International People’s Assembly (IPA), all tied to Singham’s CCP-linked network.

Far from organic protest, these convenors pursue a militant, ideologically driven agenda openly hostile to the United States and the core institutions of Western democracy.

The George Washington University’s Program on Extremism, in its July 2025 report on CCP influence in U.S. pro-Palestinian activism, similarly warns that Singham’s funding helped fuel disruptive mass protests aligning with Beijing’s global strategic interests, citing documented links between his network and groups organizing those actions.

As the Heritage Foundation notes, the network that Singham operates with his wife has become a breeding ground for radicalization.

In Heritage’s telling, the Capital Jewish Museum murders—in which the accused gunman shouted “Free Palestine” while opening fire outside the D.C. museum—stand as a grim example of how this ideological pipeline, fueled by foreign-aligned extremist activism, can spill over into lethal real-world violence.

Operating from his post in China, Singham even “shares premises with Shanghai Maku Cultural Communications Ltd., a Chinese propaganda firm focused on presenting a positive image of the People’s Republic of China (PRC) to the global south.”

According to a 2023 New York Times report, his “ties to the propaganda machine date back at least to 2019, when, corporate documents show, he started a consulting business with Chinese partners. Those partners are active in the propaganda apparatus.”

Despite this history, Singham's network is now promoting a political front group whose branding trades heavily on Jewish identity, aiming to court Jewish support in the closely watched Manhattan mayoral campaign.

Here, the face is Mamdani—who checked the box for “Black or African American” on his Columbia application despite being of Indian ancestry, born in Uganda, and from a well-connected East African–South Asian family.

His father is a tenured professor at Columbia. His mother is a filmmaker. Yet Mamdani has styled himself as a revolutionary underdog—despite benefiting from every elite institution and every ideological cover story that money and media can buy.

The left has mastered ideological laundering—using identity groups to deflect criticism and smear opponents, wrapping themselves in slogans to slip past scrutiny.

“Jews for Zohran” is a textbook case of this cynical tactic: take a divisive, radical figure and surround him with religious branding and media allies until he looks untouchable.

The New York City mayoral race is drawing global attention—and behind the scenes, a coordinated international operation is backing him. American voters, especially Jewish voters, deserve to know when a group’s branding is being weaponized to advance the agenda of foreign operatives and radical ideologues.

In the end, “Jews for Zohran” may be the most Orwellian political slogan yet—because behind the curtain, the star they march under isn’t white and blue at all. It’s red—stamped “Made in China,” and carried straight into the heart of American politics by a CCP-aligned network that knows precisely what it’s doing.
