White House declined to comment on rumors that Tehran presented Washington with another ceasefire proposal.
"We do not disclose private diplomatic conversations. President [Donald] Trump made it clear that Iran will never be able to possess nuclear weapons, and negotiations continue to ensure the national security of the United States in the short and long term," White House Principal Deputy Press Secretary Anna Kelly told Israeli i24NEWS on Friday.
The document in question has also been framed as Iran's response to US-revised terms, with reports suggesting it was sent out on Thursday.
The Wall Street Journal reports that bankrupt Spirit Airlines is preparing to wind down operations after failing to secure a $500 million lifeline from the Trump administration.

The ailing budget airline had been hoping to finalize a $500 million lifeline from the government before running out of cash. The discount carrier hasn't been able to get sufficient support between certain bondholders and the government to secure the funding to keep it in business, people familiar with the matter said.
News last week raised hopes that Spirit would secure a rescue deal of up to $500 million from the Trump administration, which could have left the federal government with 90% control.
A reporter asked Trump last week: "Is the government going to buy a stake in Spirit Airlines?"
The president responded: "So we are looking at Spirit. It's in bankruptcy court. And we're looking, if we could get it for the right price..."
President Donald Trump announced Friday thatthe United States will raise tariffs on cars and trucks imported from the European Union to 25% starting next week, citing the EU’s failure to comply with a 2025 bilateral trade framework.
"I am pleased to announce that,based on the fact the European Union is not complying with our fully agreed to Trade Deal, next week I will be increasing Tariffs charged to the European Union for Cars and Trucks coming into the United States.The Tariff will beincreased to 25%. Trump highlighted over $100 billion in ongoing U.S. auto manufacturing investments - a record, he said - and praised American workers staffing new plants set to open soon.

The move reverses a temporary reduction under the July 2025 U.S.-EU Framework Agreement on Reciprocal, Fair, and Balanced Trade. That deal, reached after Trump initially imposed broad 25% Section 232 national-security tariffs on automobiles and parts in March 2025, lowered the rate on most EU vehicles and parts to 15% (retroactive to August 1, 2025) in exchange for EU commitments. These included cutting tariffs on U.S. industrial and agricultural goods, purchasing hundreds of billions in American energy, and increasing investment in the U.S.
EU implementation has lagged. The European Parliament conditionally approved enabling legislation in late March 2026 with multiple “safeguard” clauses - including a “sunrise” provision tying EU concessions to verified U.S. compliance, a suspension mechanism for new U.S. tariffs, and a sunset date in 2028. Tensions have simmered over non-tariff issues as well. The announcement comes amid broader Trump administration tariff actions that have reshaped global auto supply chains since January of last year. European manufacturers such as BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Volkswagen, and Stellantis have already faced pressure from the earlier duties, prompting some to accelerate U.S. investment plans or adjust pricing. Industry analysts warn that a return to 25% could raise costs for consumers, disrupt transatlantic supply chains, and invite EU retaliation.
New York is set to pass its most extreme sanctuary policies yet – as Gov. KathyHochul and Albany Democrats hone inon a deal that could impose sweeping bans on cooperation between local law enforcement and ICE.
Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie (D-Bronx) confirmed “95%” of an anti-ICE immigration package has been agreed upon between Hochul and state legislators as part of ongoing state budget talks – including etching New York’s first statewide sanctuary law restricting how law enforcement can interact with immigration authorities.
“I think we all want to deal with the aggressiveness, or the over-aggressiveness, let’s say, of ICE. But we also understand that there should always be due process,” Heastie told reporters Wednesday.

Narrow, but still crucial, details about how the law would function are still being hammered out.
“I want to say that ICE has no reason to be involved in any civil enforcement,” Hochul said last week.

Banning local governments, like Nassau County, from signing formal “287-g” agreements with ICE to deputize officers and keep detainees in local jails on federal immigration charges.
An experimental new legal tool aimed at giving New Yorkers the ability to sue federal agents in state court for a violation of their constitutional rights.
Restricting access to ICE from “sensitive” locations like schools, hospitals and churches.

Explicit “sanctuary” protections barring local law enforcement from communicating with federal immigration authorities unless they suspect there’s probable cause someone committed a misdemeanor or felony.
Many new additional “sensitive” locations to her list, including virtually all public spaces like parks and allowing private businesses to refuse entry to federal agents.

Albany Dems, however, quickly panned the part of Hochul’s plan allowing local cops to contact ICE in cases with probable cause — and it appears she might be backing down.
“That definitely has been out,” Heastie said Wednesday.
Critics — including the elected sheriffs she wants to restrict from working with ICE — have blasted Hochul for caving to the left, claiming she hasn’t engaged with them in crafting her proposal.

“The proposed ban on communicating or cooperating with an important unit of federal law enforcement would be a huge step backward and would be detrimental to the safety of the public in areas way beyond immigration issues,” the New York State Sheriffs’ Association wrote in a statement this week.
Turning New York’s sanctuary policy into law could create confusing grey areas and would harm the progress made after the 9/11 terror attacks to encourage branches of law enforcement to be less “siloed” and collaborate more, critics argued.
Hochul still maintains that federal law enforcement will still be able to go after hardcore criminals like human traffickers and drug rings.
“We’ll work with DEA. We’ll work with FBI. We always have,” she stressed.
