Amneal Issued Patent for Formulation of Carbidopa-Levodopa

Amneal Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (NYSE: AMRX), today announced that a patent protecting IPX203 has been issued by the United States Patent and Trademark Office. U.S. Patent No. 10,098,845 covers controlled release formulations of levodopa and uses thereof.

“The issuance of this patent supports our intellectual property strategy for IPX203,” said Rob Stewart, President and CEO of Amneal. “We have initiated a Phase 3 Study and expect to enroll our first patient shortly. We are committed to investing in our Specialty business through R&D and business development opportunities.”
IPX203 is an investigational extended-release oral capsule formulation of carbidopa and levodopa (CD-LD), being studied as a potential treatment for the symptoms of advanced Parkinson’s disease. It is designed to have an onset of effect similar to immediate-release CD-LD while providing a longer duration of effect compared to other oral levodopa products available.
