Health insurance giant Anthem (ANTM) has hired Udi Manber, who previously ran engineering for Google’s (GOOG, GOOGL) core search products and held senior roles at Yahoo and Amazon (AMZN), as head of artificial intelligence, CNBC reports, citing people familiar with the matter. Manber, who will be responsible for running the AI group at Anthem and is expected to build out a team, is the latest technologist to make the move into health insurance, an industry that is implementing digital tools and data science to control costs and improve coverage.
