Best Healthy Home Tech

Health and fitness is a huge market now, with more and more people becoming increasingly conscious about their physical state. But your health doesn’t just come down to how much you workout. The conditions in which you live and the environment you surround yourself with play a major role, too.
Here are some of the best smart tech, gadgets and appliances to keep you living as fit and healthy as possible in the comfort of your home.
Cleaner Air: Dyson ‘Pure Cool’ Air Purifying Fan
Dyson Pure Cool air purifier
DYSON
Dyson’s latest line-up of Pure Cool purifying fans fuses the company’s expertise in airflow, filtration and electronics, capturing trapped gases in the home, as well as 99.95% of ultrafine particles as small as 0.1 microns, to “clean a whole family room properly”.

The new purifying fans are bursting with new tech in order to achieve what they set out to do. First off, there’s a new LCD display for showing users which particles and the fan is automatically sensing in real time, which is made possible thanks to Dyson’s unique algorithm, which processes the input from three sensors and then displays air quality readings. Then, there are laser sensors that measure and detect ultrafine particles.  This detects the amount of VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds, such as benzene and formaldehyde, emitted from paint, burning candles and materials in furniture) and NO2 present. A third and final sensor then measures relative humidity and temperature to make sure you’re living your healthiest life. More neat tech than you can shake a, erm, fan at.
Better security, lower stress: Ring 2 doorbell and Spotlight Cam
The Ring video doorbell 2
RING
The Ring 2 video doorbell adds a level of security to your home that no other doorbells can – the convenience of a front-door intercom with added surveillance that is bound to make you feel safer, less stressed and thus live a healthier life. There’ also minimal DIY skills required to install it. For instance, it has a rechargeable battery, meaning you don’t need to wire it into the mains or a low voltage circuit, taking the fuss out of the setup process. I’ve been using it for months and it has ensured I don’t miss super important package deliveries, as once the doorbell button is pressed, I’m notified on my phone and can see and speak to the courier through the intercom and tell him where to the leave the parcel if I’m not home. An amazing bit of kit.
A sister product to the doorbell is Ring’s Spotlight Cam, which allows you to monitor your home from your smartphone or tablet, receive notifications when sound or movement is detected and record what’s happening in Full HD 1080p. A great bit of kit if you’re not really in the need for a doorbell and want to focus solely on security.
Healthier Kitchen: Nutribullet Balance
The Nutribullet Balance is the smartest blender the firm’s ever released
NUTRIBULLET
The NutriBullet Balance uses its SMART Nutrition System which sees the blender connect to an app on a smartphone or tablet, and give real-time nutrition data, down to the very gram. It does this by weighing the food that you put into it, measuring and tracking as you pop them into it. It can, therefore, count calories, proteins, carbs, fats, and sugar content of recipes by using the built-in Nutrition Sensor. This is all about making it easier to make healthy smoothies as users can following the recipes built into the app, which are suggested based on the user’s personal tastes and nutritional goals.
Most home appliances and gadgets have introduced connectivity these days, and I’ll admit, many don’t really need to – merely being connected for connectivity’s sake. But the NutriBullet Balance, thankfully, doesn’t fall into this category. I know because I got my hands on the device for the first time just yesterday, and so I thought I’d detail my experiences with it and how well these smart features actually work in reality.
Cleaner corners: Shark Cordless hand vac
The Shark cordless hand vac is the most powerful yet efficient of its kind thanks to some impressive tech
SHARK
Forget what you already know about cordless hand vacuums, Shark has redefined on-the-spot cleaning with this lightweight, powerful cordless handheld vacuum cleaner. It doesn’t look it but it’s really powerful as it’s been built with a high-efficiency motor and quick-charge technology that means giving your living quarters a quick hoover is super easy.
I’ve been using it for the past month or so to remove crumbs, dust and mess from kitchen worktops, sofas and stairs. It’s also pretty sleek  and stylish looking, which is a nice touch, and comes with quick-charge base, making it perfect for keeping on the counter and always ready for quick clean-ups. A built in dust cup opens with one touch, too, meaning emptying the dirt is really easy. This essential home appliance is ideal for those with a busy lifestyle.
Healthier head: Dyson Supersonic hair dryer
The Dyson Supersonic is the most technologically advanced hair dryer ever made
DYSON
The Supersonic has been four years in the making, at a cost of £50 million. In excess of 600 prototypes were created on the way to the finished article, tested on more than 1,000 miles of human hair. It’s no surprise then, that Dyson reckons it’s created the fastest, quietest, most hair-friendly hair dryer in existence. And I’d have to agree. Not only does it dry your hair in seconds, leaving it feeling silky soft, but the tech created by Dyson to make it do this is astonishing. First off, there’s a V9 motor positioned in the handle, which spins 6 times faster than other hair dryer motors with one inaudible frequency – yet is a third of the weight. With the motor in the handle, there’s space in the head for Air Multiplier technology. Using Bernoulli’s principle, the high-pressured air is converted into a controlled, high-velocity jet. The airflow drawn in by the motor is then amplified three times. There’s also a glass bead thermistor and microprocessor carefully controlling a double-stacked heating element, the temperature is measured 20 times per second. This ensures it protects your hair from extreme heat damage.
