Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte just announced that the current travel restrictions affecting 17M residents in the Lombardy region has been expanded to the entire country. The end date for now is April 3.
All public gatherings and sporting events are
suspended throughout the country. Schools are closed, and while public
transit continues to operate, travel is allowed only for essential work,
health, or emergency.
Italy's population is in the area of 60M people, and GDP just under $2T.
