Lobbyist Jeff Ricchetti, the brother of White House counselor Steve Ricchetti, recently registered to lobby for a company that developed a COVID-19 vaccine.
Taiwanese-based company Medigen Vaccine Biologics Corp. hired Ricchetti Incorporated earlier this month to lobby for different COVID-19 vaccines to be accepted for foreign travelers to the United States, according to disclosures.
Jeff Ricchetti is listed as the only lobbyist working on the account.
Medigen is a vaccine and biosimilar development company based in Taipei, the capital of Taiwan. The company’s COVID-19 vaccine has only been approved in Taiwan and is not listed as an acceptable vaccine for people traveling to the U.S. by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, according to CNBC.
This year, Jeff Ricchetti also registered to lobby for other health care industry companies, including Glaxosmithkline, to work on drug pricing and Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement. Ricchetti also registered to lobby for Vaxart Inc., a company focused on oral vaccines, as well as Ipsen Biopharmaceuticals, Neuocrine Biosciences and Eagle Pharmaceuticals.
Earlier this year, Jeff Ricchetti made headlines for registering to lobby for Amazon to work on issues related to the logistics of the COVID-19 response and vaccine delivery.
Jeff Ricchetti is registered with some clients to lobby the Executive Office of the President and told CNBC earlier this year that he has not lobbied his brother.
Ricchetti Inc., was originally co-founded by Jeff and Steve Ricchetti. Steve Ricchetti has not been registered to lobby since before the Obama administration.
