Hamas published a new propaganda video showing two emaciated Israeli hostages begging for their lives, as their families call on President Trump and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to renew the cease-fire deal.
Hostages Elkana Bohbot, 36, and Yosef-Haim Ohana, 24, appeared in the latest video published Monday night, with the two Nova music festival survivors calling for the war to end as they have little access to food and claiming that they nearly died from a recent Israeli airstrike in Gaza.
Bohbot’s family called directly on Trump and Netanyahu on Tuesday to renew the cease-fire deal that fell apart earlier this month, fearing that Bohbot would soon starve to death in captivity.
“Please, imagine this is your son, the father of your grandchild, waiting to see daylight, hearing IDF bombs, and living in constant fear for his life,” the family said in a statement.
The propaganda video shows Bohbot and Ohana sitting together on the ground, dressed in black shirts and gray pants, as the haggard pair claims they were nearly killed by an Israeli airstrike on March 18.
Ohana said the two were living in a purgatory as war continues all around them, while their food supplies run low amid the squeeze in humanitarian aid entering Gaza.
“Before the latest cease-fire deal on January 19, when the border crossings were closed throughout the war, there was almost no food,” Ohana said. “The situation was difficult and there was no safe place.
“We felt neither dead nor alive,” he added.
Bohbot’s family said they were worried about how long he’d be able to last after 536 days in captivity, adding that the man suffers from asthma.
“You can see in the video that he is in bad shape, that he has lost a lot of weight from continued starvation, that he is suffering from problems with his skin and his breathing,” they said.
In the video, the two men also made a desperate plea to Ohad Ben Ami, another Israeli captive who was held with them before being released in February.
“Ohad, why don’t you tell them? You were with us. You were sitting with me and him,” Bohbot said, pleading with the freed hostage to share the horrors they faced together.
“Tell them, Ohad,” both men eventually shout before their message cuts out.
Ben Ami, who has shared his experiences with Israeli lawmakers and media, said the video has only strengthened his resolve to push for a cease-fire and free the remaining captives in Gaza.
“I have now seen the video of Elkana and Yosef, my dear friends left behind captive by Hamas, I love and miss you,” he said on social media.
Like with other videos featuring hostages, the Hamas footage ends with a message reading, “Only a Ceasefire Agreement Bring Them Back Alive,” followed by “Time is Running Out.”
The war in Gaza resumed last week after Israel restarted its airstrike camping and ground operations against Hamas, accusing the terrorist group of failing to agree to an extension of the cease-fire deal.
The terror group, which rejected Israel’s proposal to extend the first phase of the cease-fire rather than moving on to phase two, holds 59 hostages, including 24 who are still believed to be alive.
