Atlanta Federal Reserve President Raphael Bostic announced Wednesday he will retire at the end of his current term on February 28, 2026, concluding nearly nine years of leadership at the central bank's Sixth District.
Bostic, the first black and openly gay president of a regional Fed bank, called his tenure an "honor and privilege."
The Atlanta Fed's board of directors will launch a nationwide search for his successor, with First Vice President Cheryl Venable serving as interim president if a replacement is not appointed by February 2026. The Atlanta Fed, headquartered in Georgia, oversees monetary policy and financial regulation across six southeastern states.
