Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Kash Patel said on Wednesday that China has committed to halting the production of chemicals used to make fentanyl, following direct engagement between President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping.
"The People's Republic of China has fully designated and listed all 13 precursors utilized to make fentanyl," Patel said. He added that "these substances are now banned and will no longer be utilized by Mexican drug trafficking organizations or any other DTOs around the world."
According to Patel, the agreement was reached during meetings in Beijing with the Ministry of Public Security, marking "a historic, first-of-its-kind achievement by any president to stop the scourge of fentanyl."
