Slain Hollywood icon Rob Reiner and his wife were found with their throats slit — with their daughter telling cops that a “dangerous” relative should be a suspect, according to a report Monday.
The legendary director and his wife of 36 years, Michele Singer Reiner, were found Sunday afternoon by their daughter, Romy — who immediately told cops the killer was another family member, TMZ reported.
Their horrified daughter quickly told investigators that a relative “should be a suspect” because they’re “dangerous,” sources told the outlet, suggesting it came during a heated argument.
The “A Few Good Men” director, 78, and his 68-year-old wife, Michele, were both found with their throats slit, according to the outlet.
Sources told The Post that stab wounds to their throats were among multiple wounds throughout their bodies.
The couple’s 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, is being eyed as a person of interest, sources earlier told The Post, noting that a knife was used in the attack.
The director and his wife were found dead in their home in Brentwood on Sunday afternoon.
LAPD Deputy Chief Alan Hamilton told reporters at a chaotic press conference last night that no arrests had been made, but confirmed investigators were interviewing family members.
“We’re going to try to speak to every family member that we can to get to the facts of this investigation,” he said.
Officials did not initially identify the Reiners as the alleged murder victims, but the family later confirmed the horrific news.
“It is with profound sorrow that we announce the tragic passing of Michele and Rob Reiner. We are heartbroken by this sudden loss, and we ask for privacy during this unbelievably difficult time,” Reiner’s family said in a statement.
A neighbor told The Post that comedian Billy Crystal — a longtime friend of Reiner’s — was spotted arriving at the home on Sunday night after the news broke.
Crystal “looked like he was about to cry,” according to ABC 7, which said that Larry David was also seen at the residence after the horrific news broke.
Rob Reiner married photographer Michele Singer in 1989. The couple had three children together: sons Jake and Nick, and daughter Romy.
Reiner additionally has an adopted daughter, Tracy Reiner, from his first marriage to the late actress and filmmaker Penny Marshall.
The director was behind some of Hollywood’s most beloved films, including “The Princess Bride,” “Stand By Me,” “This Is Spinal Tap,” “Misery,” and “A Few Good Men.”
He met his wife while filming the rom-com classic “When Harry Met Sally.”
Reiner rose to fame playing Mike “Meathead” Stivic on the CBS sitcom “All in the Family,” for which he won two Emmy Awards.
The director’s troubled son, Nick, has spoken in the past about his issues battling drug addiction and homelessness.
His struggles were the basis for Rob Reiner’s semi-autobiographical 2015 film “Being Charlie,” which Nick co-wrote.
“I was homeless in Maine. I was homeless in New Jersey. I was homeless in Texas. I spent nights on the street. I spent weeks on the street. It was not fun,” Nick Reiner told People in an interview in 2016.
