Harris mocked for reported interest in think tank creation: ‘The Coconut Tree Institute’

Social media commentators had a field day after a report that former Vice President Kamala Harris was considering starting a center for “policy and ideas.”

The New York Times released a piece on Thursday, headlined, “Sidelined and Still Processing Her Defeat, Harris Looks for a Way Back In.”

The article observed how Harris and her husband are weighing each new opportunity with the potential political blowback in mind” as they chart a course for the future.

“One possibility: establishing an institute for policy and ideas,” The Times reported. “Brian Nelson, an adviser to Ms. Harris since she was California’s attorney general, has broached the idea with several universities, including Howard and Stanford.

But some allies have noted that raising money for such a center could, depending on the donors, create liabilities in future races.”

The notion that Harris’ next political move could involve starting a think tank — despite a presidential campaign often criticized for gaffes — resulted in many jokes on social media outlets like X.

Washington Free Beacon senior writer Andrew Stiles summarized the report as “NYT: Kamala Harris, known for her deep knowledge and ability to articulate complex issues, is thinking about launching ‘an institute for policy and ideas.'”

He joked the institute would be called, “The Kamala D. Harris Institute for Examining the Importance of Understanding What Needs to Be Done,” appearing to mock Harris’ so-called “word salads.”

“Job 1: Finding some ideas and learning what policy is,” PJ Media’s Stephen Green quipped.

Republican communicator Matt Whitlock said, “The ‘Kamala Harris Institute for Policies and Ideas’ sounds a little bit like a Babylon Bee headline. Sort of like if the Kardashians opened a think tank.”

Twitchy’s Doug Powers posted, “The Kamala Harris Center for the Unburdening of What Has Been should provide a bottomless well of material.”

“[The Babylon Bee] can’t compete with this,” communications professional and political advisor Nathan Brand wrote.

Republican Party deputy communications director Abigail Jackson suggested the center be called “The Coconut Tree Institute,” referring to an often-mocked quote from Harris.

“I can only imagine the type of deep thinkers that will be affiliated with this venture,” Se

][[nator Cynthia Lummis’ communications director, Joe Jackson, said.

Fox News Digital reached out to Harris’ office and did not receive an immediate reply.

Tariffs and ‘trade wars’ — Trump asks tough questions critics won’t answer

Ten tariff questions aren’t being asked — but should be.

1) President Donald Trump’s so-called “trade war.”

Many call the American effort to obtain either tariff parity or a reduction in the roughly $1 trillion trade deficit and 50 years of consecutive trade deficits a “trade war.”

But then what do they call the policies of the past half-century by Europe, Asia, China and others to ensure asymmetrical tariffs, pseudo-health and security trade restrictions, and large surpluses?

A trade peace? Trade fairness?

2) Do nations prefer surpluses or deficits?

Why do most nations prefer trade surpluses and protective tariffs?

Are Europe, Asia, China and others stupid? Are they suicidal in continuing their trade surpluses and protective or asymmetrical tariffs?

Is the United States uniquely brilliant in maintaining a half-century of cumulative trade deficits?

Do Americans alone discover the advantages of a $1 trillion annual trade deficit and small or nonexistent tariffs?

Why don’t America’s trading partners prefer deficits like ours — given we supposedly believe they are either advantageous or perhaps irrelevant?

3) Would our trade partners prefer to trade places with us?

Would our trade partners prefer to have America’s supposed benefits of a $1-trillion trade deficit?

Would the United States then “suffer” like they do by running up $200 billion annual surpluses?

4) What if wages went up at the rate of the stock market?

What would now be the reaction of the stock market if over the last decade wages had increased at the rate of stocks — and stocks at the rate of wages?

5) Is Wall Street’s panic based on what might happen — or on what is happening?

Is Wall Street’s meltdown a fear of what might happen in the future? Or is it reacting to March’s latest jobs report that there were 93,000 more jobs created than predicted?

Was the Wall Street panic predicated on reports of much lower oil prices?

Did the furor arise over the March inflation report that the annualized inflation rate dipped to 2.6% per year?

6) Is the frenzy caused by the Trump economic agenda?

Is Wall Street’s worry that Trump’s impending tax cuts, more deregulation, greater budget cuts and continued efforts to eliminate budget deficits and reduce national debt will stall economic growth?

7) What about North American neighbors?

If the US was running a $63 billion-plus trade surplus with Canada, refusing to meet its NATO requirements to spend 2% of GDP on defense, and instead spent only 1.37%, would Canada become concerned?

If Mexico were running a $171 billion trade deficit with the US, if Americans in Mexico were sending over $60 billion per year out of Mexico to the US, and if American drug dealers were making $20 billion by selling fentanyl and opioids to Mexico, would Mexico be angry?

8) Is the Trump agenda bad economic news?

Is the current panic over tariffs amplified by Trump’s other policies?

Is the sudden end of 10,000 illegal entries a day bothering Wall Street?

Are the media furious that the Red Sea is suddenly navigable again, the Houthis in Yemen curtailing their attacks?

Is the outrage due to the targeting of approximately $200 billion in budget cuts or plans to shave off $500 billion from the annual budget?

Does the conundrum arise because Trump is sanctioning Iran, unapologetically supporting Israel and seeking an end to the Ukraine War?

9) Was the Biden record preferable?

Should Trump try to match former President Joe Biden’s $7 trillion addition to the national debt?

Should he return to allowing 12 million illegal aliens into the country?

Was the 2021 Afghanistan pullout a good model?

Is Wall Street worried that Trump may copy the Biden New Green Deal, his electric vehicle mandates and more green regulations?

10) Why the negotiations and why now?

Why are 70 countries now wishing to negotiate tariffs with America, either down to zero or reciprocally to the same rate as ours?

Is that a good thing? If so, why did our trade partners not wish to lower their trade barriers far earlier?

Did they suddenly and spontaneously decide they were acting unfairly and, on their own prompt, now want to make amends?

What’s next?

If there soon is a rush of nations to cut a deal with the United States so as not to be left out of the American market, will there follow another hysterical Wall Street spasm — not to sell, but instead to buy stocks at bargain prices?

Trump’s doc cites ‘frequent victories in golf events’ evidence of prez’s ‘excellent health’ after physical

White House physician Sean Barbabella pointed to President Trump’s “frequent victories in golf events” as evidence of the commander-in-chief’s “excellent health” and “robust” neurological condition in a memo on his physical examination results.

In a glowing health memo released Sunday that detailed very few health ailments against the 78-year-old commander in chief, Barbabella extolled Trump’s physician condition.

“President Trump exhibits excellent cognitive and physical health and is fully fit to execute the duties of the Commander-in-Chief and Head of State,” Barbabella wrote in the memo released by the White House.

“His active lifestyle continues to contribute significantly to his well-being,” he added. “President Trump’s days include participation in multiple meetings, public appearances, press availability, and frequent victories in golf events.”

After getting his physical last Friday, Trump bragged to reporters about acing a cognitive test he was given while throwing shade at former President Joe Biden. Barbabella claimed Trump scored a “normal” 30 out of 30.

“I felt I was in very good shape. Good heart,” Trump told reporters Friday after his examination at Walter Reed National Medical Center. “I took a cognitive test. I don’t know what to tell you other than I got every answer right.”

“I think it’s a pretty well-known test. I’ve taken the test four times. I’ve got nothing wrong,” he said, referring to the Montreal Cognitive Assessment. “That’s what the American people want. Biden refused to take it. Kamala refused to take it.”

Barbabella also said that Trump is 75 inches tall and weighs 224 pounds, suggesting that he’s lost a significant amount of weight since his first term. Back in 2019, for instance, Trump’s doctor said that he weighed 243 pounds.

At a reported 224 pounds, Trump is still technically overweight but not obese, according to his body mass index.

Other vital signs looked decent. Trump’s blood pressure clocked in at 128/74, which is elevated but not yet high blood pressure, per the American Heart Association.

His resting heart rate was 62 beats per minute, which the AHA says is normal.

Additionally, Trump is on two medications to address his cholesterol: rosuvastatin and ezetimibe, with his total level at 140 mg/dl — which is “optimal,” according to Barbabella.

“His medical history is notable for well-controlled hypercholesterolemia, seasonal allergies, a history of COVID-19 infection, well-managed rosacea, actinic keratosis, benign nevi, diverticulosis and a benign colon polyp,” Barbabella noted.

Since his 2016 campaign, Trump has released numerous glowing health reports from his doctors to the public.

Trump had tapped Barbabella as his physician earlier this year. Barbabella is a veteran of the war in Afghanistan who earned a Purple Heart after being badly injured when an improvised explosive device was set off during his first tour.

Watch: Taxpayer-Funded NGO With China & Democratic Party Ties Giving ICE Evasion Training

The Heritage Foundation's Oversight Project—an investigative arm of the conservative think tank that uses FOIA requests, lawsuits, and undercover videos to expose fraud, waste, and bloated government—partnered with Muckraker investigative journalist Anthony Rubin to uncover a taxpayer-funded NGO allegedly providing "ICE evasion training" to help illegal aliens subvert federal immigration laws. Even more alarming, prominent left-wing politicians are reportedly linked to the NGO, which appears to have questionable ties with China.

Undercover footage obtained by Muckraker and later published online by the Oversight Project shows Carlyn Cowen, the leftist Chief Policy and Public Affairs Officer of the taxpayer-funded Chinese-American Planning Council (CPC), delivering a lecture at a radical activist meeting held in a New York City church on how illegal aliens can subvert federal immigration laws to evade ICE.

Muckraker's Anthony Rubin explained in the video that CPC sponsored the radical activist event. He called CPC "a radical New York-based NGO that has ties to the highest levels of the Democratic Party in New York State."

Oversight Project listed high-level Democrats that are reportedly connected with the radical NGO:

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY)

NY Gov. Kathy Hochul

Rep. Dan Goldman (D-NY)

Rep. Nydia Velazquez (D-NY)

Rubin explained that the CPC has conducted several seminars to instruct illegal aliens on how to evade ICE agents.

A review of public records shows that CPC's stated mission is "to serve the Chinese-American, immigrant, and low-income communities in NYC by providing services, skills, and resources toward economic self-sufficiency."

Nowhere in the mission statement does it mention sponsoring seminars that instruct illegal aliens on how to break federal immigration laws.

According to USA Spending, CPC has received several awards from the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) totaling more than a million dollars.

Further review of public records shows CPC's subsidiaries...

CPC has questionable ties with the People's Republic of China ...

Back to CPC's Carlyn Cowen, featured in the undercover video via Oversight Project/Muckraker above, a very recent news release from the organization profiled the leftist organizer - even to the extent of providing critical detail in an image of her - wearing a "Filipinx For Black Lives" shirt.

Cowen's shirt might be the biggest red flag yet, suggesting that the taxpayer-funded NGO—with questionable ties to China—could potentially be supporting Marxist causes in the U.S., aiming to subvert the nation as China plays the long game to weaken the nation from within.
