Trump admin pushes judge to make move on lengthy battle to stop congestion pricing

The Trump administration is still trying to put the brakes on congestion pricing.

US Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy asked a judge Tuesday to make a move as “soon as it is able” months after President Trump declared the toll on all vehicles entering lower Manhattan was dead.

“Manhattan, and all of New York, is SAVED. LONG LIVE THE KING!” Trump had declared on Truth Social in February.

But with litigation dragging on, the toll has been hard to kill as Duffy tries to rescind an agreement signed under the Value Pricing Pilot Program that greenlighted the program prior to Trump retaking office this year. The toll survived several legal challenges before its rollout.

In a letter filed on behalf of Duffy, assistant attorney general Brett Shumate “respectfully” asked Judge Lewis J. Liman to issue a decision on summary judgement filings in the ongoing lawsuit to the kill congestion pricing.

New York and the Metropolitan Transportation Authority sued to try to block the Trump administration from pulling the plug on the toll scheme.

The first-ever congestion toll in the nation went into effect in early January, charging drivers $9 to enter Manhattan south of 60th Street.

But back in June, Liman dealt a major blow to Duffy — as several federal “deadlines” to turn off the toll passed. He granted the MTA a preliminary injunction, halting any changes to the program for the duration of the lawsuit.

Liman wrote that the MTA had “established a likelihood of success on the merits” in arguing that the feds “acted arbitrarily and capriciously by purporting to terminate” the congestion pricing agreement, and explicitly barred Duffy from taking any “compliance measures” promised in a blustery April letter.

Both parties were asked to submit motions for summary judgement — requests for a ruling on the case from the bench alone — with each arguing the other has no case, and Liman promised a ruling by the end of the year which could end the whole suit either way.

The fed’s letter demanding all due speed from Liman arrived with 29 days left on the clock for a ruling.

Pakistani immigrant arrested with car full of guns, mass shooting plan, note about ‘martyrdom’

A Pakistani immigrant and University of Delaware student was arrested with a cache of guns, ammunition and body armor, and a manifesto allegedly explaining plans to “kill all” and achieve “martyrdom” with a mass shooting on the school’s campus.

Luqmaan Khan, 25, was arrested just before midnight on Nov. 24 after cops found him in his pickup truck in a park after hours, and decided to search the car when he began acting suspiciously.

What they allegedly found inside was alarming — a .357 Glock pistol, numerous loaded 27-round ammunition magazines, and body armor plates. The pistol was even fitted into a kit which converted it into a semi-automatic rifle, according to prosecutors.

And they also found a notebook filled with handwritten notes detailing a plot to use those weapons to shoot up his former school’s campus police department, with a map of its headquarters drawn out and marked with planned entrance and exit points.

It included phrases like “kill all – martyrdom” throughout, ABC 6 reported, detailed how to evade capture after the planned shooting, and explained how a number of other weapons would be used – which police said were all “premeditated assault plans” and obvious “warfare techniques.”

The full motivation behind the alleged attack remains unclear, but Khan allegedly told police after his arrest that becoming a martyr was “one of the greatest things you can do.”

One campus police officer was named in the plans, though it remains unclear why.

Khan used a notebook to handwrite his plans, which include phrases like ‘kill all — martyrdom.”

Khan was born in Pakistan, but has lived in the US since he was a “youth” and is an American citizen, New Castle County Police told The Post.

After the arrest, the FBI raided Khan’s Wilmington home and found that the arsenal in his truck was just the beginning.

An AR-style rifle equipped with a red-dot scope was found in the home, along with a second Glock pistol – this one equipped with an illegal device that converted it to a fully automatic machine gun capable of shooting 1,200 rounds per minute.

Khan was also allegedly plotting a violent attack on his school’s police department.

Eleven other extended magazines were also found, as were deadly hollow-point bullets and a bullet proof vest.

None of the weapons found in Khan’s possession were registered.

Neighbors told investigators that Khan was friendly in the past, but had become oddly “standoffish” in recent months. He had no criminal record prior to his arrest, Spotlight Delaware reported.

Khan remains behind bars and so far has only been charged with illegal possession of a machine gun as the FBI investigates.

Disaster was averted by little more than a stroke of extreme luck, police said.

“They just randomly drove up in the Canby Park West, and when they located the vehicle in the park, once they made contact with the individual, rather than just shooing the person out, saying, ‘Hey, the park is closed,’ they did police work,” Newcastle Police Master Cpl. Richard Chambers said.

Josh Shapiro rips Kamala Harris for ‘blatant lies’ in memoir: ‘trying to sell books and cover her ass’

Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro ripped into former Vice President Kamala Harris, accusing her of spreading “blatant lies” about him in her memoir chronicling her failed White House bid.

Shapiro, once on Harris’s shortlist for vice president, flew into a fury when he learned that the former veep, in her campaign tell-all, “107 Days,” described him as arrogant, domineering and captivated by VP perks during the vetting process.

“She wrote that in her book?” Shapiro asked The Atlantic’s Tim Alberta, who highlighted the scathing passages in a sit-down interview published Wednesday.

“That’s complete and utter bulls—t. I can tell you that her accounts are just blatant lies.”

In her book recounting the 107 days of her doomed campaign, Harris said Shapiro was fixated on the vice presidential residence – measuring drapes, counting bedrooms, and questioning if the Smithsonian would lend Pennsylvania art for display.

Harris wrote that the governor wanted to be “in the room for every decision” if she became president, adding that he often hijacked conversations and frequently needed to be told he wouldn’t have equal power.

Alberta said Shapiro’s reaction shifted between outrage and exasperation while reading the excerpts.

When asked if he felt “betrayed” by the vice president, Shapiro lashed out – accusing her of deflecting the blame for her crushing loss to President Trump, according to the article.

“I mean, she’s trying to sell books and cover her ass,” Shapiro snapped before backtracking.

“I shouldn’t say ‘cover her ass.’ I think that’s not appropriate.”

Harris’s book revisits the period after former President Joe Biden’s disastrous debate and the weeks of internal debate that followed before mounting her 107-day campaign against Trump.

She detailed the vice presidential search, writing that Pete Buttigieg, who is gay, was her “first choice” for running mate but that the pairing was “too big of a risk” due to his sexual orientation.

“We were already asking a lot of America: to accept a woman, a Black woman, a Black woman married to a Jewish man,” Harris wrote in her book.

“Part of me wanted to say, ‘Screw it, let’s just do it.’ But knowing what was at stake, it was too big of a risk.”

Harris ended up picking Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz as her running mate.

Shapiro has since emerged as a potential contender for the 2028 presidential race.
