Iran warns UK, France against Hormuz warship deployment

Iran's deputy foreign minister for legal and international affairs warned France and Britain against deploying warships near the Strait of Hormuz, saying any cooperation with US actions in the waterway would face an immediate response from Iran’s armed forces.

“The presence of French and British warships, or those of any other country, for possible cooperation with the United States’ illegal actions in the Strait of Hormuz, contrary to international law, will be met with a decisive and immediate response by Iran’s armed forces,” Kazem Gharibabadi, said in a post on X.

Waltz says Iran trying to choke world economy - Fox News

US Ambassador to the United Nations Mike Waltz said Iran could not be allowed to threaten global shipping and the world economy.

“The world should not tolerate an Iranian regime that is trying to choke off the entire world’s economy,” Waltz told Fox News Sunday.

“It cannot start just throwing sea mines indiscriminately out into the ocean, attacking shipping,” he said.

Waltz said Iranian state television had also discussed targeting undersea cables that carry financial data, cloud information and other economic traffic in and out of the Persian Gulf.

'Iran’s reply stresses war end and maritime security'

Iran’s official response to the latest U.S. peace proposal, delivered via Pakistani mediators, focuses on ending the war and ensuring maritime security in the Persian Gulf and Strait of Hormuz. The U.S. plan would formally end hostilities and reopen the strait before addressing more contentious issues such as Iran’s nuclear program. State media offered no additional details, but the focus aligns with Tehran’s repeated emphasis on securing key waterways for trade and energy transport.

Netanyahu: US-Israel war on Iran is not over

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told CBS News chief Washington correspondent Major Garrett that the war with Iran was "not over," as highly enriched uranium needs to be taken out of Iran and the country's enrichment facilities and proxies need to be dismantled before that.

"It's not over, because there's still nuclear material, enriched uranium, that has to be taken out of Iran. There are still enrichment sites that have to be dismantled," Netanyahu said in an excerpt of an interview due to air later on Sunday on CBS's "60 Minutes" program.

"You go in and you take it out," the Israeli leader said when asked how the uranium could be removed. "We've degraded a lot of it, but all that is still there, so there's still work to be done."
